Black Glass Port Tasting - Sammamish Port Club (North Bend, Washington) : Tasted blind in black glasses. Aromas of dried pineapple, orange peel, and toasted almond on the nose, layered with hints of vanilla and warm spice. The palate is silky and balanced, offering caramelized tropical fruit, salted cashew, and a touch of honeycomb. Acidity provides lift without sharpness, and the finish is long and nutty, with lingering notes of citrus and butterscotch.

Purchased for $48. Beautiful dark golden color. Almost looks like a 10-Year Tawny. Where do I begin with this? Possibly one of the greatest wines I've ever tasted. On the nose, pineapple, caramel, tropical fruit (think peach and mango) and that lovely oak barrel age, similar to standing in the cellar house in person. On the palate.... W-O-W. F*ING WOW!!!!! So sweet. Yet with so much acidity. Pineapple, peach, honey, caramel... All jumping out of the glass. The acidity is …

Phenomenal and delicious. No detailed notes from a group dinner, but far outclassed a Royal Tokaij 5 Puttonyos 2009 and Guiraud Sauternes 2005.

Really interesting, excellent summer aperitif! Golden hue, visibly rich with a limpid satiny texture. The sweet nose leaps from the glass: butterscotch, orange peel, muscat raisins, spice cake. Coats the palate, sweet yet with an inner tension, very long.

The palate is rich and velvety, with notes of toffee, honey, dried apricot, and toasted nuts. It has balanced acidity and a long finish that shows notes of caramel and some dried fruits.

Amber peach in color. Tropical fruit notes with guava lightly caramelized banana, and honey on the nose. Very rich mouthfeel with just a hint of oxidation that provides some nice complexity. Very balanced acidity and sweetness. The richness follows through in the very long finish.

2021 FTLOP Harvest Tour; 9/19/2021-10/2/2021 (Portgugal) : Dark yellow in color. Butterscotch is present on the nose, and I am just starting to detect the first notes of oxidation you expect from the older White Ports. Vanilla, hazelnuts, and great honey notes on the palate. Very nice tannins with bright acidity. Sweet notes of honey with complexity and richness on the long finish.

Vintage & Tawny Port Grab Bag (Sammamish, Washington) : Bottled in 2019. Clear, amber-orange in color with slight yellow on the rim. Honey and antique wood furniture notes on the nose with lime, vanilla, and orange creamsicle. Smooth, well-rounded, and elegant mouthfeel. We were debating whether or not we thought this might have some White Port in the blend because of how smoothly the wine presented itself. Exceptional balance, with nice vanilla notes on the long finish.

30 Year Old Tawny Ports (Portvinsklubben 1981) : Fresh plum fruit with a touch of caramel. Overall it seems quite singular and the alcohol is dominating a bit to much.
