Italian Wines at WFA (Wine For Asia 2008 @ Suntec) : A bit of dark soy sauce, a bit of burnt rubber and a bit of dessicated coconut on the nose. Black ripe fruit sweetness come to the fore and last till the mid palate but became progresssively salty to the end that slowly evolved to show more dark mocha and prunish flavours.

WFA Italian Wines; 10/16/2008-10/18/2008 (Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore) : Very clean nose, with clear savoury meat and a touch of bramble and earth. Similary clean and balanced on the palate, which showed meat, black olives, capers and a hint of rosemary along with some meatiness. The salty capers carried on into a nice round finish. This was certainly the earthiest and meatiest of the Gulfi wines, yet still remained really clean and clear tasting. Very nice.

Opaque purple. Inviting nose of freshly milled black pepper, tar, dark plums and fig. Full-bodied, savoury palate with ripe, grainy tannins and balanced acidity. Much improved from the overly baked 2003. Drinking best now or over the next 2 years. Fruit from various vineyards in south eastern Sicily. Gulfi's three single vineyard 'Neros' are some of the finest examples of this variety.
