Adega Algueira Ribeira Sacra Fincas

Quite complex Ribeira Sacra from 80+ year old vines. The bouquet comes with black cherries, blackberries, spicecake and mineral aspects from those granite soils. Tending more towards pinot, this medium to full bodied wine should easily hold for another decade.

I have recently had a few of these Ribeira Sacra blends with about 8-9 years of age, and the nose starts out super funky, but with a little air a super complex bouquet emerges. As is also common, I see a lot of Loire Cab Franc aromas and flavors. Very old vines, incredibly delicious, wish these were more readily available.

Quite Gamay-esque with a delicate, graceful palate. Has lively acidity and red cherry flavors.

A really fine bottle, plenty of freshness and lift, lots of tangy red and black fruit. Deep, sappy and also a bit herbal First time with this producer, but certainly not the last. A great expression of Ribeira Sacra and in my view well worth the $ for the old vines and elegance of this bottling.
