Le Fief du Breil - Muscadet at its best? What a fantastic wine from Landron, who certainly puts the ‘Bourgogne’ into Melon de Bourgogne’. Immediate sense of terroir from this Melon B, with gun flint and smokey aromas accompanied by fairly developed yellow apples, pears and stone fruits - peach and apricot. A muscadet like no other I have ever tasted. It has less acidity than a typical muscadet, but due to the long aging on lees, it is a smooth and rich wine. Absolutely amazing. One could almost confuse it with a Bourgogne.

Beautiful, fleshier style of Muscadet, but still marked by all the classic markers of lemon, mineral, oyster shell. While it is perfectly dry and lean, it does not have the bracing, salivating acidity you might expect from Muscadet. Light yellow colour. Very pleasant on the nose, fresh and mineral, with notes of lemon curd, oyster shells, green apples and crushed chalk. Mouthfeel is fresh and mineral, medium bodied, with nice acidity and notes of citrus, green apples, sea spray and crushed chalk. Still very youthful, fresh and linear with clean and pure fruit.

I drink a lot of Muscadet, especially Pepiere, but this is quite different. There is an attractive vegetal quality that reminds me of Gruner. Less mineralogy and salinity. Pretty good cut.

Nice, although I would like a little more cut in my Muscadet. This is a little riper/richer in style than, say, the Briords from Pepiere. I don’t drink enough Landron to know whether that is the winemaker or the vintage speaking.

Medium plus nose shows white flowers, lime peel, orange zest, slate, saline. Palate nicely expressive, hint of brine, lemon zest, white melon, pear skin, salinity, acidity very nice and really the showcase here. Classic style, should be great shellfish pairing.
