d' Arenberg tasting, Trinity wines (Cookoovaya) : Warm vintage The wine shows med intensity, red fruit but there is some “stalky green” note here too, savoury but rather lean for an Aussie Shiraz, definitely more Rhone-like, it has a Crozes-Hermitage feel to it, a few spice notes like clove here but not interfering with the fruit In the palate, the wine shows the same profile as the nose, there is a weird brine-y texture here which is strange, the tannins …

A bit on the lighter side for a Shiraz/Syrah. Notes of red fruits (red cherry, raspberry, red currant) on the nose and medium bodied palate along with a grapey streak. Juicy acidity and no tannins to speak of. Will probably hold for several years. A good example of "you get what you pay for" when purchased for $10-$12 retail. However, this bottle was $52 at a neighborhood NY City (Manhattan) restaurant.

A little more savory edged than I remember. Yeah, and more sharper edged on the palate. Maybe better for it too. But maybe not.

Probably best consumed a year or two ago, some fruit, with pepper notes which made it palatable.

A reasonable cheap Shiraz. Not great, but drinkable. Have with red pizza, burgers, ribs, red pasta. Will hold its own from a strength perspective. Pretty tannic even at 6 years. Thought based on the price point it would have mellowed to a soft grape juice at this point. A lot of chalk, earth, graphite. Feel like I'm licking a wet stone. Don't get much else. Maybe some cedar.

Black fruits, spice, toasted oak. A bit on the astringent / bitter side, which bolstered the acidity a bit. I noticed some reduction / rubber off-odors, though not too overwhelming. Not a very good wine.

Heavy black fruit and some musk is followed by mouth-filling sourness. We made a valiant effort to drink it but half the bottle went down the drain.
