This first experience with an orange wine did not disappoint! I really wasn't sure what to expect, but this bottle's surprisingly elegant personality definitely lives up to its captivating colour in the glass. A rather phantasmagorical meeting of marmalade, apricot, strawberry, yellow apple, pith, honey and stone on a dry and lengthy palate with a slightly creamy finish makes for a wonderful detour from the usual.

Well, it is an interesting color - let's be clear. Paying tribute to how it was made in Georgia 4500 years ago, 7 different grapes are fermented like reds. Fresh & fruity on the nose with ripe peach & chamomile tea. Palate carries soft orange, ripe red apple, citrus zest, pepper spice & a pithy mineral finish...wrapping with light chalky tannins. Much better on Day 2. Overall, it seems well balanced, absent of the typical astringency & bitterness associated with …

IIRC this is my first orange wine. This one is made from a cocktail of Chardonnay, Grenache blanc, Viognier, Marsanne, Mauzac, Muscat and Clairette. Orange gold accurately describes its colour. I was disconcerted at first by how dumb this was aromatically but, after about 20 minutes open, the nose started to develop fragrant peachy notes with a splash of citrus and spice which then followed through onto the palate. This was medium full in body, drier and less exotic in …

PnP. Fruity earthy touch of grip. Not a lot on the finish.

This is such a fun wine. It really catches you off guard at first, with a spicy and provocative nose, but with a little time in glass (~10 minutes) the nose gives way to fresh ripe tangerine, honeycomb, more spice (white pepper and clove, maybe?)... In no way does it come across as overly extracted or sweet which is a pleasant surprise. There is a wet flower petal note that sneaks in a little that I can't quite place. The …

Fruit Day - Orange/Tangerine colour in glass. Pretty nose of oranges, peaches, lime zest(?), fresh cut hay, saline, honeysuckle and orange zest. On the palate it’s heavier than I expected with deep and rich flavours of candied lemon, mandarin orange, sweet cooking herbs (basil, fennel(?) and a finish of spice, orange zest and honey. Not sweet but succulent on the finish with the honey and orange flavours continuing. Really interesting and very easy to sip - however it does grab …

Stóra Toro smakkið (Eðalklúbbur, vínsmakk #4 vor 2021). (Marbakkabraut 12) : Seinna vínið sem var smakkað í svörtu glasi var svo þetta: Suðrænir ávextir í nefi (lychee). Ilmur minnir á gewurztraminer en með meiri blómum. Krydd. Á tungunni: Sætleiki, perubrjóstsykur, yllisaft og appelsínubörkur. Þarna voru allir sammála um að þetta væri hvítvín. Þegar flaskan var sýnd þá kom í ljós að liturinn á því er mjög flottur, kopargulur. Einnig sagði Stéphane að í því væru sjö hvítvínsþrúgur m.a. moscatel, marzanne, …
