Dr Edge Chardonnay Tasmania

This is a really nice wine. Pale lemon, clear and bright On the nose flinty with a stony minerality and a whiff of struck match. Lively and bright with a zesty, sherberty character that is so enticing. Long stony finish that goes on and on and on. Fruit is not to the fore - whatever's there, is the juice of a green apple. Fun to drink from a country I had never tried before. This is a good, solid chardonnay. Nothing discordant or out of step. A bit steely, which is nice. A solid bit of citrus and white melon. Medium-short finish. Surprisingly good.

Unique and tasty

Reticent on the nose, almost aloof. Swirling, air and a large bowl help to express aromas of oats, dried lime, white peach, salty rocks. Quite full bodied and rounded on the palate entry with a beautiful mouthwatering acid character that swells from deep and carries through the finish. Precise, cool and contained- and pretty moreish.

Dr Edge Tasmanian releases (Annandale Cellars, Annandale) : Melon, slight sulphur, lightweight, simple, slightly citrus on the nose. In the mouth it has fresh melon, pear, plenty of drying textured, slight alcohol warmth.
