Dense, dark fruit, licorice, toasted orange peel, and so smooth if not a bit non descript, this lacked the complexity of the '98 Masseto but was second to none when it came to power. Soft milk chocolate and sweet cherries in the bouquet. Soft on the palate. A lot of ripe (sweet) fruits. Quite mature already, but no real hurry. Although the alcohol is a bit dominating and edgy this is a beautiful wine.
