Really pretty Gevrey, Nose has cranberry, rosehip and a touch of smoke. With air some plum fruit and a couple of ppm of plum chutney. Palate has prominent acids with some tart redcurrants and a hint of sour cherry sorbet. Such poise and balance.

Short notice chance offline (Lorne) : A generous bonus bottle opened to go with the cheese. Much less advanced than the previous 2010, there was no funk at all here. Red fruits, cherry stone, a hint of marzipan but no lingering sourness - lovely drink, and more than the two preceding reds, one that non Burgundy lovers would appreciate.

Lorne Rangers (Lorne) : Opened as we were running out of wine for our cheese! Fresher and less evolved than the other two reds, very dry and redder-fruited, dominated by tasty but sharp things like cranberry and redcurrant. Very 2010: light in style, but not lightweight.

Supper at Lorne with friends (Lorne Restaurant, London) : Bright cranberry and rosehip on the nose here. The faintest hint of marzipan too. Palate lovely and savoury with great balance. With time in the glass there is a little pomegranate to add to the mix. Very agreeable end to the evening.

Lovely sous bois perfume with some ripe raspberry. Similar on palate if a little lean. Decent but a shade charmless.

From my cellar, this bottle was three or four years shy of ready, let alone at peak. Tannins cover the flavors like an iron curtain, dense and drying. Third day after opening, the fruit does burst through impressively, but the slightly sharp acid and still-firm tannins distract rather than compliment. At that point, for lovers of young Burgundy, perhaps it would push the right buttons. I prefer well-aged, mature wines from the region, and my assessment comes from that perspective. …

Dark ruby color and a fragrant bouquet. Ripe dark berries, lush and velvety, earthy and complex, with good length and sufficient acidity. In the peak zone. Outstanding bottle.

This is really very nice. Slightly smoky, dark red fruited, earthy Gevrey character with a lightness and freshness cutting through the fine but quite dense structure. Finishes well. ***1/2

Drank at Suttons for Thanksgiving. My first wine of the evening (other than a welcome Prosecco). Nice, lots going on. No specifics, but no rush.

If served blind, I may have misidentified this as a Northern Rhone. With wild animal fur and chicken feather notes on the nose, it is very old world in style. Palate is crisp and light with cranberries, gooseberries, cabbage, game, and gentle spices. This would be great with white meat dishes. It is a wine with high acidity and some austerity. It’s not for everyone.

Bevuto al ristorante "Dac a tra" vicino al lago di Lecco. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo nonostante fossimo in un ristorante stellato (62 euro). Naso fresco fiorato. Al palato molto elegante, giovane, fiorato. Piacevolissimo.
