Gavalas Winery Assyrtiko

What a shame this wine was bottled with a synthetic closure.... I'm convinced it would have shown even better a year or two ago. The color has started to turn but the aromatics are still nice. Bright acidity, citrus notes, nice balance. Change closure!!

Wines of The Aegean (King George Hotel) : Really low intensity in the nose, med body and intensity in the palate, a few stalky notes with bit of tropical fruit, loads of minerals and harshness, steely, med+ finish. A very strange sample indeed, need to try it again

Light yellow color; savory, saline, almond, tart lemon nose; rich, tart lemon, light lemon oil, tart pear, mineral, saline palate with medium acidity; medium-plus finish (13% alcohol) 92+ points

Clean, bright and quite pleasing; had a bottle at a restaurant, will make efforts to track down

Light lemony. Nose is not completely clean, still has some yeasty aromas and an oily character. Intensity is medium with slight mineral notes. On the palate it shows citrus flavors and some minerals with medium plus acidity backing it up. Needs some time in the bottle still.
