Bouchaine Chardonnay Bouche de Beurre Estate Vineyard

Although allegedly past the drinking wi Dow, this wine is still showing quite well. The aroma has faded a bit but the taste of fruit, mouth coating texture and lingering finish are still there.

This was stunningly good - as fine a Carneros chard as I can remember. Slightly reticent nose at first, then opens up to citrus (lemon) overtones. Balance is the word here, even as the label touts it's "smooth and buttery" character. That's a marketing error, as it has so much more restraint than typical Napa butter bombs, as well as defining acid and structure. More Chablis than Montrachet, but plenty of stuffing.
