Trujillo, Gary Morisoli Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Rutherford

Opaque ruby red. Bright cherry and saddle leather aromas. Full, rich and polished on the palate. Black cherry, plums, anise, tobacco. Intense but not overbearing. Chocolate notes on the mid-palate. Beautiful, precise tannins, bright acidity, fabulous balance. Finishes long, long and surprisingly subtle for such an intense wine. Notes of anise and cherry on the finish. Fabulous Cab near peak. Drink next 7 to 10 years. Gets brighter and more red-fruited with air and time. Decanted for 45 minutes.

Three years since my last bottle and a very good wine has become great. Dark purple color with very faint translucence. Dark chocolate and black cherry nose. Elegant and powerful on the palate, blackberry, black cherries, tobacco, bit of cedar. Smooth tannins, but with a bit of bite (not a bad thing). Lovely acidity, great balance. Finishes long, long with dark chocolate and cherries. Beautiful right now but you can drink this for another 8 years.

Time has been really good to this wine. PnP, did not need a decant. Opens with huge aromas of blackberry, black cherry, spice, chocolate, currant and slight herbal. Loaded with flavor with blackberry, black cherry, anise, tobacco, slight herbal, currant, spice and cedar. Medium to full body with a long smooth finish. A year ago, the tannins were still slightly harsh, not anymore. In a really good place.

Needs a serious decant or don't open it! 2 hour decant was not enough. Improved a lot over the next 4 hours. Blackberry, black cherry, spice, chocolate, currant aromas. Loaded with flavor with blackberry, black cherry, anise, tobacco, slight herbal, The tannins are still on the firm side and could use a few years to soften. Still has a huge upside for those who can wait.

Beautiful berry and plum nose with a hint of chocolate. On the palate there are dark cherries, anise, tobacco, pepper, chocolate. Nicely resolved tannins (but another 2 to 3 years wouldn't hurt), Great acidity and balance. Finishes smooth, dark chocolate and cherries. Should drink well for at least another 7 to 10 years.

I wanted a touch more from this, but I think it's much too early for this. Light garnet, transparent, Rutherford dust, bright rendition of dark fruit. Has all the pieces of a wonderful Rutherford cab, just needs a bit of time. 93 now with a solid upside.

Really nice wine as a youngster. Blackberry, blackcherry, spice, chocolate, currant aromas lead to similar flavors with a hint of tobacco. The tannins are still on the firm side and could use a few years to soften. The future is very bright for this wine if it ages anything like the old Karl Lawrence Morisoli Reserves did. Easily should go 1-2 decades.
