My first time tasting this producer. Surprisingly open and approachable pop and pour with some air. A great blend of elegance, body, floral notes, very good acidity levels, and enough oak that frames the body. There is a signature prominent cheese rind on the nose which slowly dissipates with more time before revealing more delicate florals, nuanced lemon and slightly under ripe stone fruits. Vandaag weer de eerste Nederlandse witte asperges op het bord. Om dit te vieren deze mooie bourgogne opengetrokken. Volgens de kenners was 2021 een minder jaar. Enige minpuntje is misschien een klein beetje gebrek aan concentratie maar verder prima op alle aspecten. Fijne neus met heerlijke vanilletonen en mooi gedoseerd eikenhout. In de mond citrusvruchten, rijpe peer, appel, tropisch fruit. Boter. Heeft wat temperatuur in het glas nodig om zich volledig te ontvouwen. Dat wordt beloond met een megalange afdronk.

Funky Nase, wie immer spannend, fleischige Noten, Kräuter, Popcorn, Zitrusfrüchte. Im Gaumen elegant, konzentriert, sehr dicht, knackige Frucht, top Säure, herrliche Länge. Ein Gedicht. 2023-2035

Merchant walkabout tasting of the 2021 burgundy vintage in bottle. I really liked this vintage, the wines were showing well. It is lighter and crisper than the 2020, more open at this stage and easier to drink, but there is no under-ripeness. Comparing it to recent vintages, I see it as a slightly cooler version of 2017. TN: Like last year one of the best whites. Great flinty nose, crisp palate, yet generous, mineralic finish. 94-95
