Past it’s best time to drink, echos of the wine it used to be. More mineral, a bit of toasty butterscotch, a bit of apple and pear fruit left. Still a long-ish finish, but mostly minerality and toasted (almost burnt) marshmallow lingering.

Nose of citrus, smoke, and spring flowers, same on the palate, medium/big body, tasty, at peak, rich fruit, mouth filling fruit, subtle, elegant, and a long finish.

Mild fruit with a bit of melon and peach. Somewhat typical CA style, w enough fruit to make it enjoyable w/o being annoying. A reasonable price but not over the top.

The wine looks straw colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like stems, smokiness, and toasty oak, bell pepper, mushroom and toast. It tastes like apricot, melon, pineapple, mushroom and toast. The body is medium/full. The wine finishes long. The wine has medium acidity. Reminiscent of Condrieu, but half the price. I'm hooked.

Smoked apricots and citrus flavours with a wonderful mouthfeel. The oak overwhelms the flavours a touch but the beautiful mouthfeel keeps you coming back for more. It will be interesting to see how a year or 2 settles it.

Another good bottle from Landmark, a producer I see as consistent and reliable. Apple, a little pineapple, and a touch of smokiness.

Fresh cut cantaloupe, apple, and a slight nutty note populate the nose. Leads with unripe peach and Crenshaw melon on the palate, with a touch of wet stone. Oak stays in check, hovering around the surface, and accelerating through the finish. Solid.

Really a heck of a bargain. Good clean, clear yellow color. Fine apple-like fruit with a smoky edge highlights the nose. Rich fruit but yet dances lightly across the palate with a lovely texture. Creamy, fruity. This is hard to believe at the price, less than $16. Bravo! 4-13-16-9: 92/100.

I admit I have a soft spot for this wine. Before California realized (not?) that more was not necessarily better, that more extract, higher alcohol, more oak did not a better Chardonnay make, Landmark crafted/styled this wine to be (slightly) more European in its outlook. At around $14-15 a bottle its favorable with the rest of the lot that is coming out of California at around the same price point or slightly higher. Medium bodied, lightly oaked, Fruit, acids, somewhat …

Drinking very nicely. Yellow-gold, oily appearance. Pretty nose, well-balanced between fruit, oak and acid. Certain snappiness on the nose reminiscent of a decent burgundy. In the mouth sports nice pear and apple fruit, with a kiss of vanillin oak at the end. Finish lingers nicely. A real bargain for sure. 4-12-16-8: 90/100.

A nose of citrus and spice, medium golden in color. A medium to full bodied white, with peach, lemon, Asian spices on finish, refreshing. www.winelx.com

39th Annual Zinfandel Retrospective - the 2012s (R&D's) : Aromas of banana and coconut, apple and florals. Medium-bodied with flavors of apple and pear liqueur, stone and toasted coconut. This has a nice level of toasted oak for the fruit and body- I like it. 89-90 pts.

For the same general price as the Wente 1883 I find this wine to be a much nicer chardonnay with more focus, drive and depth. Notes of ripe lemon, rounded mouth feel, mineral finish. Oak noticeable but not over powering.

Popped and poured. Impressive, especially for the price. Oily yellow-gold. Snappy, focused, precise nose of chardonnay fruit. All elements in balance. Cream, fruit, and wood. Nice. The balance continues into the mouth, with good full fruit, decent acid, richness, and harmony. This is remarkable for its price. 4-11-16-8: 89/100.
