I wondered if this was over the would be hill, but it was fantastic--strong black and blue fruit with a mineral/graphite backbone a hint of tannin. More powerful fresh fruit than elegance but very enjoyable. It had a much fresher flavor than I anticipated. I would love to try it again in a few years.

Smells and tastes as it should. Certainly not the most complex, but charming in a rustic way, especially for Napa Valley. Very good, mostly integrated oak treatment, still rippin' acid, stalwartly structured, appreciable finish. Nice wine! 91-92.

Share with friends for New Years Eve, a real crowd pleaser. All the 10-year-old Napa cab should be, still rich and luxuriant, but beautifully softened tannins made this easy enough to drink it is in class too much with the lobster we were being served.

Dark red, moderate nose, good balance, rich, tannins well integrated, excellent with braised lamb shank; decanted briefly; some sediment

Outstanding. Still had a lot of structure with dark, ripe fruit at the front. Lots of life left in this bottle. Makes me wish I had a few more. Outstanding and lengthy finish. Served this with a steak and potatoes cooked in duck fat and it was a fantastic match.

Notes similar to prior tastings. Really opened this one up for a good 4 hours and was rewarded with a well polished, high fruit density cab that showed a persistant long finish. This one will hold for a while. One of my favorites from 2003 vintage.

Seems to need more time to open now than it did a year or two ago. I suggest decanting 2-3 hours for best results at this stage. Nose: Dark Berries, Cocoa and Currants all come through. Palate is filled with Black Cherry, Currant and touches of Chocolate, Vanilla and Caramel Candies. Some nice Blueberry Pie spice in there too. Finish is long and strong with great acid balance and soft tanins.

big new world california cab, nice fruit, Kathy enjoyed it more than i. good but missing some complexity or depth to justify the price point.

popped and poured. 14.1% alc. Deep rich wine, with cedar notes/cigar box on the midplate and finish-- almost distracting in its heft.

Enjoyed this bottle the best yet. Rich, ripe and bold. Better flavors develop after a couple hours being open.

Seemed a touch more tannic than the last bottle and was better overall on day 2. Still, a big bold cab with loads of ruit and some nice secondary notes.

Just delicious. Right out of the bottle this wine was well balanced with bold fruit (cherry blackberry, casis) with a wonderful bouquet and a long finish. If you like big bold cabs, this is a great choice. I will buy another bottle from Hidden Ridge Vineyards.

Very ripe fruit and a lush mouthfeel. A bit one-dimensional, but also has hints of licorice, chocolate and well-integrated oak. Decent value at 50 bucks if you like the style, but similar to Meyer Family which can be found arounf $30.

Big hot nose. This wine is over the top for me. Loads of black fruit veering toward over ripe. It's super ripe, but simple, and hot again on the finish. 86?

Unbelieveable Dark lush Cabernet, almost Black in the glass. This particular bottle was slower to develop and change than others, but excellent nonetheless. - Dylan Prime

Nose of brambles and a bit of fougere. Light colour, light body. Nice fruit with strong acids and a slight syrup-ness on the finish.

Unbelieveable Dark lush Cabernet, almost Black in the glass. This wine really steals the show for me everytime.Dark fruit laced with chocolate, vanilla, pie spice, and blue berry. The finish finds smooth tanin and oak that are nicely delivered. Had this bottle with steak and mushrooms in a boubon reduction sauce. The dark fruit of this wine really made the meal, and drank nicely on its own with a Manchego cheese.
