Bon Voyage Such an appropriate name for today’s wine. Red Schooner Voyage 10 If you’re not familiar with today’s wine, let me introduce you to a sister brand of Caymus Winery, Red Schooner. To prevent any confusion, there are actually two wines made with this name, a Voyage Series and a Transit Series. Each refers to a particular source of grapes that are picked, chilled, and then transported from their home country to the Caymus processing facility in California. The …

A decent wine with grapes grown in Argentina and processed in Napa. I think I prefer Cahors style of Malbec better. Served with meatloaf which was a good choice.

Incredibly sweet, very bright fresh jam of darker fruit - black cherry. Not my style - feels cola or modern refined vs old world elegant Too much jammy fruit

Sweeter than the usual Malbec should be but a full flavored taste on all counts. I’ll try the 10 next.

Four years on from first trying this wine there is no doubt it has improved. Still quite rich and sweet but less in your face. On the nose there are powerful notes of tobacco, menthol, new leather and black plum. In the mouth there are medium tannins, powerful acids and warm alcohol that is just starting to integrate. Flavours trend sweeter with jammy plum, blackberry and black cherry. Good length. We have several more bottles of this so I’m really …

Sourced from the sun-drenched mountains of Mendoza in Argentina, the grapes are carefully transported to Caymus Vineyards, where they undergo a meticulous process, including 15 months of aging in French oak barrels. The wine reveals a deep red hue, boasting a jammy texture and good structure, with flavors of ripe cherry, oak, and a hint of leather. It finishes with bold tannins. This wine pairs beautifully with pizza, pasta, burgers, and hot French fries.

Opaque dark color. Dark fruit bouquet. A rich, ripe, full wine with modest tannins. Relatively high alcohol, but there so much fruit concentration here it masks it. Big, gonzo wine.

Jammy, almost like an overripe Zin. Not worth the price.

Deep inky purple and ruby. First nose of plum, oak, and a bit of earth. Second nose of raspberry, vanilla, baking spice, and red licorice. Very smooth and tannins are almost nonexistent. Plum, cranberry, earth, and a hint of baking spice.

1 hour decant. Im guessing this is probably an 18- though NV. Nose: blackberries, cinnamon, a bit balsamic, oak spices, green shrubs. Palate: blackberries, vanilla, shrubs, charred oak, cardamom, olives. Full body, smooth, easy to drink, a bit sweeter than your usual Argentine Malbec.

Did not like it on first pour. The wine is dark purple colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like blackberry and black currant (cassis). The wine has high acidity to begin with. The body is full and has leathery texture. The finish medium to begin. Next day is was very enjoyable. Acidity was gone and finish was smooth.

It was too sweet and fruity, missing the body and character of a Malbec. Quite disappointing

Very tasty. Lots of fruit makes it very enjoyable. You can pair this red wine with anything hardy. Cheese, sourdough bread and even chile.

This is an exceptional wine with soft tannins, low levels of oak, fruit forward, and its velvety smooth to drink. Very hard for two people to down this bottle in one sitting, it’s so rich and better to savor slowly. Had with slow-cooked lamb shanks and polenta. 2017 blend.

Nice and smooth- unlike some Malbecs. Medium-full bodied. I liked this on its own without food. I’m usually a Cabernet drinker, but liked this enough to buy again.

Had a weird offputting green, a bitter note out that I couldn’t get over. ended up making sangria with it in order to make it palatable. was a little bit better the second day, but still opted to make sangria with the rest.

Disappointly simple and sweet. Or, maybe I'm just growing weary of the Wagner style... either way I'm done buying the Schooner product.

Fruit is there but it's otherwise pretty flat and I swear I could taste some of the insecticide but in fairness that could also be the citronella candle I'm burning.

such a cool story, shipping the grapes from Argentina. Has that malbec quality, but also sea salt air to it. I like the other schooner we had (4?) better, but good delivery, dark purple color, medium legs. good with sushi

Dense wine with plum/prune focus on fruit profile. Low acidity and tannins. Maybe few more years to mellow out the fruit. Have had older voyages that were excellent

Very bright purple color (rich), color indicated jammy but it was not ! Had “frozen” fruit overtones (makes sense give ahipping of grapes from Argentina) in the blackberry type family. Fine with slightly spicy food. Good experience

Bold with very present tannin. Fruit driven with noticable, but not overwhelming, oak. Tastes like what it is - a Argentinian Malbec made in a Napa style. We enjoyed it with grilled steak.

Mendoza grapes and Caymus winemaking, an incredible combination. The Voyage 8 was a delicious, balanced Malbec that opened up wonderully over the course of 4 days. Not too jammy with a beautiful finish - this punches above its price point.

Drank 2 bottles of the voyage 3 in the past 6 months. It held up to time better than I had initially expected. Fruity, very little in the way of tannin. Pleasant for what it is. Drink now.

Red Schooner. Argentina Malbec grapes shipped to Caymus and made into wine. 14 months in French oak, 60% new. Bottled Sept. 2020 A very smooth but overly soft wine and very extracted. Flavor of cherry Lifesavers candy. Black cherry, vanilla, violets, graphite, cinnamon, sweet black plum. Not match for my palate.

Muy fragante, amable y con el sello Wagner característico. Violetas y ciruela predominan en nariz, mientras que el boca la barrica francesa aporta un agradable toque de vainilla y especias. Notas secundarias de cacao y chocolate. Decididamente “nuevo mundo”. Recomendable para paladares aventureros y modernos.
