Melody of pickled cabbage and cool blue fruit. Much deeper than any other wines from this vintage. Opened earlier than last bottle and it is rewarding. 94

So well balance for such a young wine. But as I had been advised the 2011 has opened up already. Which it had. It was in a wonderful position to be consumed. A beautiful burg nose with fruits and ripens. The pallet full of read fruit, sweet, and smooth. Rousseau really knows how to make wines even when the harvest was not the very best quality. Cheers

A touch thin. Still very CSJ mineral characters and red fruit. Light on its feet, but not a ton of substance here. Quite nice today.

Perfuming nose with ripe red cherry, red currant, mushroom, violet, flora and mineral. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Did not use a proper Burgundy glass to get its full aromatic nose.

Opened 2 hours and certainly needed. Very much on the fruit, fragrant and delicious. Great with pigeon with foie and choux en feuillete.

Lucky to taste it twice in a short period of time. Perfuming nose with ripe red cherry, red currant, mushroom, cinnamon, violet, rose, flora and mineral. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. Tannin is soft and integrated. Outstanding wine. If the finish and body is more, I would have rated it 100 pointer.

Decent transparent blue fruit and grilled meat spice despite the vintage thinness problem, which is as obvious as the classic CSJ lifted texture. Perhaps a touch better than the Chambertin and Beze from this vintage. 93

Simply the most enjoyable refined and delicious Pinot noir I have had in the past 12 months

Pronounced nose intensity with notes of red fruits, strawberry, flora. Needs a lot of aeration. It gets better with more air. Probably one of the best 2011 vintage wine I have tasted.

Very refined. Displays celery inflection oft associated with 2011. As the wine becomes deeper and richer with air, any less desirable inflection is negligible. Excellent wine in a mediocre vintage.

Having had the 2011 Rousseau Clos Saint Jacques a few times this year, I can confirm that Rousseau didn’t do so well in 2011, unlike Fourrier 2011 (which are beautiful). Restrained nose of mixed berries, with a stern stemmy bouquet. Subtle perfume and underlying sweet earthy Gevrey note with austere green tannins. Gevrey Chambertin 2013? (89-90/100)

Pnp, bright garnet in color, stemmy nose with strawberry/cranberry aroma which I adore a lot, a personal preference. Quite concentrated on palate, good acidity with mild sweet fruits and oak, tannin evolving and quite approachable. Hint of hawthorn and the acidity renders the wine very enjoyable im a perfect harmony. Definitely punching above its weight as a premium cru. Entering drinking window.

Even though the 2011 Rousseau Clos Saint Jacques is delightful and doesn’t lack complexity, it couldn’t get away from the typical 2011 characteristics. The tannins are slightly green and austere, not the best vintage of Rousseau. Stepping into its drinking window. Fresh bouquet of spices, red cherries, low pitched sous bois. Medium bodied with good structure, persistent finish. Personally I prefer the 2011 Fourrier Clos St Jacques. (89/100)

Drank at 67 Another beauty from Armaud. Deep complex nose with a smooth velvet palate.

Coming after the '02 Rousseau CSJ, it was a tough act to match. Red-dark fruits driven with mineral & earth coming through, this was definitely more "clenched (fruit-density)" than the '02 (which was brighter & more lifted) but one could certainly discern the underlying layers/quality, potential complexity (that would come with ageing). Even at this stage, this was streets ahead (even from an enjoyment perspective) of the preceding CdlR, Charmes, Mazis & Ruchottes. I can certainly imagine this will be …

Pnp. Transparent kirsebærrosa. Mye mindre grønn enn forventet/fryktet. Tydelig stilk, men ikke mer enn f.eks. 13 Bachelet Charmes Chambertin, drukket like før. Fin kirsebærfrukt. Floral som få. Utrolig attraktiv. Sjokkerende nok overgikk denne …

excellent wine - the fruit here is spectacular, particularly for the vintage. Great lengths and layers. A little early but wow wine.

Tasted blind. Bright red and dark fruit with pronounced acidity dominating. Good complexity. Relatively closed at first but opened up after a few hours and got better and better. There was a nice stalky note coming through as well. I would give this till 2024 before drinking.

During a Paulee dinner, so only brief impressions. Quite dense for a 2011, much more dark fruit than I remember seeing in the Chambertin Grand Cru. Compact, good structure, closed. Good material underneath. Dont open before 2023.

Beautiful bouquet but like many 11s it’s lacking oomph. There are better vintages to be spending a lot of money on

Lacks the structure of the '05 and the depth and transparency of the '10 but a very good performance for the vintage and an enjoyable, if young, wine for current drinking. Upside here.

Among all 2011 Clos St Jacques it is most restrained but with deep, balanced complex notes. Layers by layers on palate, great depth and good focus. Better in 3-5 years.
