Agro Batoreu Ribatejo Terra Silvestre

Ground, licorice aromas and hints of green olive tapenade with capers. Balanced, provocative, fresh with a delicious ground mixed with fruits and black pepper on a medium body and smooth palate. Mid but extremely pleasant, spicy and somewhat smoky finish.

Drinking very well now.

This is why you cellar wine. Every now and then something special happens! That's all that needs saying. Drink up and enjoy the character, complexity and old world essence. Enjoy

- Brick color with slow forming legs, smokey and licorice aromas. It's balanced and has flavours of licorice and coffee with a medium body. Fleshy texture with a medium finish - Big nose, dense, black. Some acid, soft tannins

Earthy and complex, but not dominant. Pleasant finish. Enjoyable overall. Can be overwhelmed with too much spice.

Price still high...but like this for its rich feel - medium to full bodied lots of dark and somewhat brambly fruit. Lightly sharp acid and tannins. More expressive and interesting than my last notes and maybe age has been of benefit and further aging important to appreciate!

Not sure if worth the price here, and maybe will be better a year from now. A little earthy/funky nose and dark fruit. Palate is medium wieght, not overly complex, and fruit is muddled in with the earth tones. Some brambly notes, tobacco also perhaps. One of the select wines from Opimiam and I would not buy again, but got 5 more in case to sample next winter!
