Last of a case of 6 bought from the domaine and perhaps the best bottle of the lot. Last minute decision led to a pop n pour. Minimal sediment and beautiful cork. This was singing after 15 minutes of air. It’s a very integrated Cote Rotie that was restrained in power, and really well balanced. Dark fruits, smoked meats, earthy bramble notes and some subtle peppery spices. Medium bodied. Lithe and silky across the palate with fully resolved tannins. Highly …

Pop and pour. Spectacular. Cola, game, blackberry, black pepper. Fantastic acidity and attenuated tannin. Wow.

What a wonderful treat! This was pure Côte-Rôtie, textbook Côte-Rôtie. There is unique pleasure in tasting just that. I have no interest in deciding if it is the best Côte-Rôtie I have had, or the best Jasmin, or the best 2007 Côte-Rôtie, or the best Jasmin 2007 Côte-Rôtie. Nor do I care if it is less good than other's of those categories. What matters is that is is a real Côte-Rôtie. I have had recently a 2004 Barbaresco from a …

Can't really call this a great Cote-Rotie, but it comes across as a very honest one. Nice ruby pigment forecasts a ready drinking zone notwithstanding that we're about 30 hours shy of technical rule-of-15 compliance. The color is deceptive as the fruit tones are quite dark and blackish. Texture is nicely resolved and all the classic Cote-Rotie elements are here - cured meat, olive bramble, just a l'il bit of barnyard - albeit nothing is screaming, everything soft and subtle.

with ample air this shows a nice mix of tart fruits, beef jerky, herbs and earth notes. in prefect place of primary and tertiary flavors. Give it some air though

Gift from a friend last year. On PnP showed great characteristics, quite tasty and easy to drink, complexity pulled together from years in bottle is my favorite part. Found myself wishing that on day 2 it would gain; it was a bit more serene but as another noted it also felt slightly tired. This bottle may have had its day before I could get to it. Quite pleasing overall, a beautiful expression from start to finish. Edit: Day 4 finished …

Russk. CDC at Andrea's. Her wine. Thx Dear. The WOTN. Blind, I called it N. Rhone with Viognier. Bacon. Bandaid. Finesse. Maybe a tiny bit tired. But still drinking nicely 3 days later.

A little over 2 years since my last bottle. While 07s have been a strange lot, this bottle was utterly sublime and totally in its prime. Pop and pour. On the nose: soft cola, pine, dark black raspberry, black olive with brine....sweet and intensely savory. On the palate: fantastic acidity, excellent density and weight with olive brine, black raspberry, classic Cote Rotie. Attenuated tannin, but lovely balsamic notes, and very juicy on the finish.

Bought at auction. Bottle in perfect condition. A very clean shiraz with good length, but most importantly with a hint of viognier (vineyard 5% viognier, cofermented). This is what makes Cote-Rotie so unique, with a hint of an almost pinot-burgundian finish. Good tannin structure. Safely cellar for another 5 yrs +.

Drinking really well. More to the elegant side for a Cote Rotie, but nicely balanced, dark fruits, gamey, slight florals.

1st of 3 for me. Popped, decanted (almost no sediment however), and began consuming straight away. Medium (+) garnet color. Meaty nose of iron and beef blood, along with damp earth, eucalyptus, and a little floral. Very pleasant to my nose. Lighter side of medium body, medium (+) to high acid, medium finish, and flavors of cherry, plum, lemon, orange peel, and black tea. There's a very light grip to the tannins still, but I don't know that this should …

Slow ox’ed for four hours. Showing fairly well. A fairly bright profile with some red and black fruit, herbs, blood and bone, and earth. Tannins are fairly resolved and this is now quite lithe on the palate. Perhaps a little too bright without sufficient power for a higher score. Product of the vintage. Very solid wine all up though.

Similar profile as previous note. Very acidic, improved with air, but still a little too much even with food.

Russk. Enjoyed most soon after opening. 91 points. Bacon and earthy notes. Towards the end of the evening and a couple of days later on a serious decline down to 89pts. I don't know how long it had been decanted before I first tasted it. But I would error on the short side.

Pop and pour...notes from 4 hrs open. Now, finally starting to hit its stride...started out again like a Loire cab franc, but that blew off to reveal some nice N Rhone perfume: charred cherries, olive brine, charred meat. Very lightweight, and great acidity and density. Good core of bright red fruit, and nice savory notes...some serious grip still on the finish. The drink-by dates seem very conservative.

Wanted to check in on this, but should have waited longer. Decanted, and notes from 1hr open. Loads of gamey, charred meat, followed by very dark red fruit; almost like a loire cab franc with a touch of syrah. On the palate, bright acidity, with high toned red fruit and a very soft, but grainy tannoc finish. With a swish, the tannin is totally enveloping, but still grainy. Good warmth and pepper on the finish. 07s always show strange to …

Cassoulet with (mostly) Cote-Rotie&Hermitage (Jordan's, Northbrook IL) : Nose: The nose is pretty and perfumed with black cherries, violets, tobacco notes, black pepper, black olives, crushed rocks, and a good dose of bacon fat. There is excellent depth with a more feminine style to the nose. Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. The tannins are silky and refined with the feel being more demure and backed up with black cherries, violets, bacon fat, crushed rocks, and some …

Never seemed to open up fully even after 5 hours. Red fruit and dried raspberry leaf nose. Raspberry palate and just a bit of spice. A little too high acidity but improved with air. More rustic than I expected.

Very tight and lean upon opening. As it opened over a few hours and with a decant, red cherry fruit, florals and stem aromatics emerged although the mouthfeel was crisp and coiled. Last glass was the best and I will keep my last bottle for 5-10 years more.
