Huge surprise given some reviews. Maintains plummy ribe fruit with menthol undertones. Medium bodied with mouth watering acidity and mellowed but noteable tannin. Long finish. Garnet rim with ruby center. 40 years!

1983 Cabernet Retrospective, Part 2 (Tasted Blind) (Tom's house in Palo Alto, California) : Browning on the edges of the glass. Very good nose (B+/B++). Well integrated palate (B+/B++) My #5, Group's #6 (78 pts). Tasted blind.

With Kathy and Miranda at home at dinner (pizza). Quite dark ruby. Clean and clear; no sediment-it's clearly been filtered. Nose smelled woody and astringent, with thin fruit smells. Acrid, bitter flavors. Rot? Just not charming at all. Yuck! Stiff, brushy, tannins, and little fruit – a terrible combo. Typical 1983-it's bad. 4-8-4-2: 68/100.

In the Beaumont office with Michael Lehmann. Very pretty color. Light edge. Rich dark ruby. Refined, restrained nose. Good tobacco flavor. Tannic but drinkable. Good grip. 5–10–15–7: 87/100.
