Sonntag Grüner Veltliner Geschlossen

Peach Farm. Interesting Gruner with extended lees aging (about 9 yrs, or 3294 days to be exact). As a result it's a little mellower. Gruner character is there, but subtly. I liked it. Mike M liked it. Drink or, presumably, hold.

Really cool wine. Not exactly what I’d call Varietally true, but it’s great and really unique. Showed well against some tough Austrian competitors.

Oxidization, lime zest, orange marmalade, and a hint of that fresh vegetal gruner note. The fruit quality is surprisingly pristine, given the age. Medium (bordering on med +) acidity. Finish is concentrated and balances savory oxidized notes/fruit. With 9 years in barrel, the aromatic and structural freshness is impressive. Currently fairly well balanced between oxidized/freshness, will need more time for full tertiary.
