Patrick Javillier, Meursault, Tete Murgers

Sourced from RWC a few years ago. Decanted briefly. Deep golden green - almost a grass-stain color. Fully mature but intact profile of soft orchard fruit, hazelnut, and sun on stone. Over two hours the green tint faded along with the fruit. Not oxidized, just running out of gas a bit. There is apparently quite a bit of bottle variation with some samples very vibrant and others over the hill.

Light golden colour. Nose is unimpressive in the begging, very focused but opens up in the glass without ever becoming exhuberant. Has earthy mineral tones, lanolin, marzipan and slight wet-wool aromas, more serious than pleasing. But in the mouth this wine has remarkable intensity, lemony, mineral and buttery tones. Understated but still strong with a very long finish and crisp acidity. It is a very powerful wine but reserved at the moment and can only appeal to experienced tasters, casual …
