Josh McDaniels does an excellent job of creating a high quality merlot that is affordable. Beautiful floral and red fruit notes. Good balance of red/black fruits and supple tannins.

typical right-bank Bdx style; very deep ruby color, rush of wet stone, volatile peppery black fruit nose, some bramble; Nice left tongue heat.

Nose is light/weak, tight, somewhat vegetal. Front palate is cherry and chocolate, with a lot of acidity, fading moderately into graphite then plum. Grippy tannins. We paired with a vegetable lasagna on a rainy night--good choice.

This vintage is an Estate Reserve version. Six months on Hungarian oak, medium toast. The nose is better than expected. The tannins are smooth. Good.
