Elk Cove, Estate Riesling, Willamette Valley

Petrol for days. Slightly sweet. Reminds me of an old-world Riesling.

No formal notes, but I enjoyed drinking this. Plump, round mouthfeel with distinctly Riesling flavors of apples and, with air, peaches and a bit of that steely Riesling minerality. Nothing to write home about, but it scratches the Riesling itch while being a bit different than your typical entry-level Mosel. Solid value.

This smells absolutely wonderful, and in no way would I think this wine is over 25 years old. Ripe pear and apple fruit, honey, and a hint of sweet grapes and dried citrus coming through behind those flavors. The palate shows fresh flavors of white pears, apples, green grapes and honey. Balanced acidity on this keeps things refreshing. A shorter finish than the '81 tasted beside it but this is out-right delicious. Really enjoyable stuff.
