Domaine Santa Duc, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Habemus Papam

En nydelig Châteauneuf-de-pape. Fruktig og konsentrert, med myke taniner og en del lettere enn andre Châteauneuf de Pape. Anbefales på det sterkeste.

This full-bodied and fruity wine was very nice, charming and appealing! Besides expected notes of ripe dark fruits and herbs, it was also displaying beautiful aromas and flavors of coal, steel and minerals. In my opinion, this wine is drinking greatly now, but it will also certainly evolve for many years.

The initial aroma of the wine appeared unusual for a Châteauneuf-du-Pape; however, after allowing it to aerate further, it returned to its characteristic profile. The taste was smooth and well-balanced, with no harsh edges, complemented by a subtle sweetness in the aftertaste. Overall, it was a very enjoyable wine.

Very nice with our tomahawk steak. Dark fruits, light tobacco, rich and smooth. We were looking for a bit more fruit and this was perfect. Decanted two hours.

The 2019 iteration of Santa Duc's Habemus Papam Châteauneuf is an approximate blend of 70% Grenache and 30% Syrah, sourced from vines averaging 60 years, aged for 18 months in a combination of foudres and amphorae. Does smell more like Northern Rhone. One person calls cherry wood smoked oysters. From the can. A little tight on the back. Debate ensues, maybe its smoked muscles.

Black spices and fruit to the nose. And little bit tense on the palate but quite robust, pretty tasty, just needs some time to open.

Elegant, dark, deep, rich, full and spicy, the wine has a solid depth of flavor due to its blend of Grenache, Syrah. and Mourvedre The fruit is dark, meaty, a touch spicy and fresh with touches of peppery spices on top of the ripe black raspberries, and red plums in the long finish.
