WS tasting notes - Ripe and rich, this is filled with concentrated Asian spice accents to the dark cherry and roasted plum flavors. Shows hints of dark chocolate and mocha on the plush finish. Drink now through 2023. 9,015 cases made. Kim Marcus Issue Date: Jun 24, 2021 Release Price: $55/750mL

This is kind of horrible. Weirdly overextracted Pinot with an overlay of smoke. Has to be smoke taint from the fires

Deep red with purple hues. Displaying fruit and a balance with acidity. Slightly peppery but only in the background. Could have used a few more years in the cellar I would guess but I had no Burgundy available and need a Pinot for dinner. I would buy more but…not with the current US government.

Opened 2 bottles tonight, one is 'off'. Not awful, but you can tell it's going bad. The other bottle is smooth as silk. The other one that has that pungent, earthy taste, as though air got to it. Amazing considering the wax seal, but the corks do slip right out with little to no tension. Oh well, 1 out of 6 is not bad, it happens. My score reflects the first bottle.Notes are similar to those over the past year.

a popular wine for non-oenophiles. but i don’t mind it for what it is… an easy sipping, overtly ripe, straight-forward, atypical pinot. it drinks more like a young amarone (minus the tannin). …it’s sweeter, spicier, weightier than it ought to be. but when you know what you’re in for, it’s predictable and consistent (vintage over vintage). accepting the design intent, my only real criticism is it’s a little flabby. it needs more acidity and tannin to offset the heavier style.

Ok Belle Glos but just not my favorite style Pinot. Very fruit forward as the winemaking family is known for. On nose cherry vanilla plum oak. Palate very fruit forward with cherry plum chocolate vanilla and spicy notes. Tannins are well integrated and medium high acidity. Longer finish. Well made wine if you like this style.

I appreciate and understand the variety of comments on BG Pinot Noir, you'll either like it or score as "not your everyday PN". I personally enjoy the flavor profile and find that Pinot runs a wide range of taste characteristics depending on terroir. Certainly the winemaker plays a role, yet there is a consistency with Belle Glos PNs. Not much to add to previous comments. I am picking up the smoke and blackberry tonight, pairing with pizza... Cheers!🍷

4.4 stars on Vivino got me to give it a try. It tastes more like 3.7 to me. Drinkable but not worth the price. Significantly better Pinots to be found on WTSO for $20. I'm not buying into the Wagner hype ever again.

Scoring the same, nice complexity and not your every day PN. Got some black fruits and earth on the nose. The last time I did not pick up the tobacco like this tasting. Perhaps the green and 'smokiness' coming through? It's a smooth taste across the palate with medium to low acidity along with a white pepper finish. It's a nice divergent from Cabernet and Cab blends(which I enjoy) to experience different flavor profiles. Nice finish in the back corner …

I think that this wine is past its prime. It is medium ruby in color. It is starting to break down on the edges. The fruit is less pronounced. It is tannic and there is not a ton of acidity. Drinks more like a merlot than a pinot.

This was brought by a family friend for July 4th. I’ve had previous iterations of this label and have never been a fan of the style; I don’t purchase it nor include it in my personal cellar. Agree with ROSSODIO…an over extracted, and over oaked crowd pleaser. I know I’m in the minority here, but there’s no sense of place, terrior, or any character which might provide a differentiator as to its origin… full throttle, rich, extracted syrupy sweet and …

This wine well cellared properly will change your mind about California pinots, if changing was necessary. I like a full bodied chewy pinot, but they are hard to come by. I had it with a smoky bbq’d bone-in center cut pork chop, white acre peas with ham knuckles and mint, baked sweet potato, and skillet jalapeño cornbread and it was scrumptious!

As some others have said, this is not your typical pinot noir. It is a bit more bold and full bodied. Plenty of fruity acidity and smooth tannins, with a touch of jam. Some smokiness, a complex finish, and dark chocolate notes are more characteristic of a blend, like Chateauneuf du Pape or Bordeaux. Very enjoyable (and I don't drink PN very often). Recommend a good chill, then opening an hour before drinking to allow it to rise to a …

I enjoy Belle Glos PNs and the Las Alturas doesn't disappoint. I'm more a fan of the Balade, just for the record. I digress...BG PNs are atypical of most Pinot Noir grapes in my opinion, perhaps that's why I enjoy this vintner. True there are Pinot characteristics like blackberry, currant, cassis, yet there is a certain boldness compared to other Pinot, many of which seem thinner. I'm a cab, amarone, brunello kind of guy, so I'm looking for a bold …

Overextracted and with more residual sugars than many would enjoy, though still a crowd pleaser for very casual events. I would not say it isn't enjoyable on some level, and this may be exactly what they were going for, but it is not for me. I had two small glasses, one on night 1 and one on night 2. Drunk over 3 nights. Vvv

What an odd wine. Very dark, black cherry and not much backbone. Based of previous comments not as sweet as expected. That said, a pretty poor example of a Pinot. Also, the bottle was terrible. The wax was so dried out, I couldnt pull the tab to open it. Had to take a knife to it. Not worth the aggravation. Thankfully it was a gift so I didnt waste my money; only my time.

Plummy, dark berry nose. Full fruit and dark, smoky flavours on the palate with an out-of-place level of angular acidity that tips the balance from what one would hope to be a smooth and plush wine towards one of awkwardness and discomfort. At the very least, it's far from Pinot in profile, but that is to be expected from Belle Glos at this point. 2.5/5

Pours deep purple. Highly concentrated. Nose has dark fruit, oak, and some earth and spice notes. Palate is the same, a bit over-sweet. Medium + body, medium acidity, medium tannin. This is not bad, but it's noticeably doctored. If you're looking for a good expression of the grape or terroir, this isn't it. That said, it's well made.

Pop and pour to pair with a delicious Italian white sauce pizza. I have enjoyed the 2018 vintage and this was quite comparable. On the nose, stewed dark fruit, vanilla and oak. Initial sips were identical to the nose with pronounced dark fruit, blackberry and plum. Vanilla, oak and some smoke rounded out the flavors. Hard to rate/not impressed. I'm not a pinot drinker but this isn't really pinot. IMO its too early to drink, even several hours after opening. I have had 8+ year old Belle Glos that was more my style so will avoid the "drink early" advice on these going forward.
