Big Basin Vineyards Mourvèdre Old Vine Rodnick.Farm Vineyard

Decanted an hour and a half. Candied cranberry. Fresh blueberry. Mashed warm blackberry bushes. White pepper. Grilled herbed meat. Cool evening fireroad hike. This is much better than I remembered before. A wonderfully interesting glass of wine. Perhaps the additional year in the bottle has been kind. Wish I had more if all the bottles pop like this one. Lovely.

A delightfully soft, fruit-forward Mourvèdre - very much a wine that can be enjoyed now. Tannins, acids & fruit all in a nice, rounded balance. The first California Mourvèdre I've had with restrained alcohol/no trace of heat. Those can be great - but this is a different thing.

Fantastic now

Opened this bottle 5 days ago and 80% of the bottle was consumed. Medium bodied/acidity. Lighter style Last glass was stranded in the bottle which was simply corked and left on the counter. Now having that last glass Fabulous! Smooth as silk and not a note out of place. Tannins dropped though not particularly brawny in the first place. What a surprise finish!

Lighter style but moderate fruit. I would not have thought Mourvèdre. Tasted over three nights and was much silkier after the first day. My first with this wine. Will be interested to see how this evolves over the next several years

Hard to believe this is mourvedre. The palate is bright with cranberry, strawberry, and a lively line of acidity. The wine is medium-bodied, and if I didn't know any better, I'd have guessed this was carignan. Delicious now, but maybe a little better in a year or two.
