This wine raises the question of extraction in pinot. Decanted off of some sediment. Nice nose of dried herbs, cranberry, and licorice. Rather full-bodied and dark-flavored on the palate, with richness balanced by good acids amid currant notes. Finishes very well, with just a few dusty tannins left. This wine is in good shape, could hold longer, but near its peak. It's a fine bottle, but not very much to my taste. It's not racy & elegant, but rather ponderous. …

Very deep garnet, aromas of dark cherry, cola, tea and just a tiny bit of earth. Standard PN flavor of dark cherry and spice but definitely on the heavy side for the varietal, which is no surprise based on the alcohol %. Medium tannin, could use some more acidity to balance out. Not a bad wine, but became almost taxing to drink.

Their must be bottle variation or storage issues with some other folks' bottles of this wine. Opened 3 btls from my cellar last night for a party and this was beautiful. Not a hint of bitterness or oakiness in these bottles, just lovely pinot fruit, both on the nose and palate. Great balance with good acidity, rich - but not jammy or flabby - fruit, and nice spice. This is exactly what I want when I open a Cali pinot. …

Did a Pop 'n pour after a 2008 Kosta Browne Koplen bottle and this was not a fair fight. Some burnt oak and bitter flavors. My wife and I debate what to open first on a given night when having dinner with friends and family. I like to open with a lesser wine, then go for the big gun as the main event. She prefers the good stuff first when her palate is fresh as we did last night. Both …

Your basic Pinot. Hints of oak made it nice, but otherwise very light with zero layering and finish

Popped and poured, the wine tasted a bit off at the start and did not open easily, I thought it was a bad bottle, but I vacuvined it and sampled the next day and discovered what the fuss was all about. It's not fruit forward but leads with spice, with a bit of leather and smoke.

Heavy, serious-looking bottle, dark blueberry colour, generous spicy bouquet of cloves, toffee apple, cocoa dust and cassia bark. Dense, weighty, powerful and grippy, but softly tannic on the tongue, with a significant mid-palate of dark hedgerow fruit and a tarry, minerally, salty finish. A pretty serious wine - not for the lover of dancing, restrained, subtle Pinots. On the broad and complex spectrum of what Pinot can do, this is on the heavy end, but does not compromise the essence …

Popped and poured. Clear ruby. Nose of black cherry, iodine, cedar, and leather. Fruit forward palate of ripe black cherry, strawberry, prunes, and spice. Very good length. Mild tannins. Pleasant acidity. Unobtrusive oak. It is a very good value. Year after year, Morgan Twelve Clones pinot noir is under-rated by critics and over-delivers for the price.

Translucent ruby, huge crushed cherries on the nose. Cherries and strawberries continue on the attack, followed by a wave of bitter greens, finishing with dry tannins. With some air the green notes subside, the fruit moves towards blueberries, plums, and the finish is obvious vanilla/oak. Not well integrated and somehow combines fruit bomb with underripe flavors.

Pretty good California Pinot. Not too acidic. Nice fruit with some earthiness. A bit thin.

Chose a Pinot for my Pinot loving companion... Wanted something a little heavier and this was a good choice. Smooth and rich..., scarlet in the glass. Bing cherries and strawberries balanced with a little earthiness. Opened up nicely and was very enjoyable- Especially for the price.

Not overly complex but this bottle has become my "go to" pinot. A little astringent on the back end but shows a deep rich mid palate and plenty of SLH pinot characteristics that make it thoroughly enjoyable. For $18/bottle, this is a great buy.

Typical Cali PN, varietaly correct, cherry strawberry fruit forward, enjoyable if ordinary.

Deep color. Full flavor through mid palete and finish is strong. Great color but not too strong on bouquet which is good. Mostly a mid palette finish but in a good way. A little heavier than your avg Pinot. Almost bridging to a cab

Nice fruit upfront on the nose, followed by spice, leather and a hint of vanilla, combined with a too strong alcohol. Nice garnet color, light body, low tannins, with good fruit, medium spice and a decent finish with just a slight too much alcohol. Overall a good wine.

Decanted for 2hrs, consumed over 1.5hrs: Color- deep purple with 1/16th" bricking/Nose- beautiful strawberry-cherry-earth, no etoh (big plus)/Taste- strawberry/cherry/light/tart/slight acidity/earth/Finish: damn good Very much a lighter display of SLH fruit, but a pure display of PN. The price has spiked up hard over the past 2 vintages, so I can't call this a QPR anymore, but instead a fair value for the money.

Darker and denser than most pinots (splash of syrah perhaps?) but pretty good. Layered and complex with notes of earth, rhubarb, and cedar box spice.

Dense dark color. Very berry driven nose with spice and some alcohol coming through. Full bodied palate palate, sharp acidity, and quite hot. Medium spicy finish with lots of heat. Well made but I find the heat distracting. Maybe better if cooler. Otherwise quite good.

Tasted in preparation for a Wine Dinner featuring Pinot Noir's. Opened two hours before serving. Light, delicate nose. Too sweet, watery, and lacking in structure compared to previous vintages and other comparably priced Pinot's. Similarly rated by all participants. Not chosen for the dinner.

First blush is rather un-pinot, but time and air brought out a Burgundian-leaning California wine. It showed itself as rich, dense, unctuous over an evening. On the second evening it lost the pinot characteristics and showed itself as big, dense, tannic. Perhaps with an equally aggressive pairing it could show better.

Ruby color, nose of smoke and black cherry. Palate of cherry , earth, rhubarb. This is drinking well but will likely improve as it softens and intgrates over the next year.
