Drinking very well right now! Nice and taut while also having a distinct roasted note. Great balance with notes of brioche, hazelnuts with an extremely precent autolysis note.

Family Holidays; 7/28/2023-9/10/2023 (Alicante - España) : By the glass. Blend of 65% Pinot noir with 30% Chardonnay and 5% Meunier. Ten years of aging in barrels. Alcoholic volume of 12%. On the nose the memories of peaches, yellow plums and floral notes of jasmine and honeysuckle triumph over the rest of nuts or pizza. On the palate it is offered as a full-bodied champagne, fragile but with density, multifaceted and very long. Recommended in its style. Bottle with a …

Score! Vintage cuvée Deutz in Cathay lounge! Lovely pale to medium lemon in glass. Medium sized bubbles just floating up like snowflakes in reverse. Ripe nose and even riper palate. Lemon peel, ripe yellow apple, pastry, hay and honey. This wine is developing. Palate is dry, med + acidity, med alc, med body, med+ flavor intensity, med finish. This wine is good to very good with some complexity to it that will likely increase with time. Drink now or hold …

From magnum. Quite effervescent compared to 750ml opened 2 months ago, notably less advanced while still intensely yellow. Tons of modestly firm red apple initially, moves to softer yellow notes after 30 minutes or so. No butterscotch, mushroom, or forest floor making it nicely satisfying with or without food, though perfect with cheesy (mozzarella and Parmesan) turkey tetrazzini. Removed from ice bucket after an hour to avoid muting.

Totally agree with THEWIZ's note from 1/21/22, though not going as deep with my rating! Modestly/appropriately effervescent upon opening, needed 90 minutes to show at its best.

From a magnum. Ripe and rich, with refreshing bead and structure. Pinot dominated. One of those wines you can share and simply enjoy without any serious reflecting, but one that offers complexity and a medley of flavors and textures to ponder. I like many of the wines from this house.

Champagne & Chardonnay WIMPS, September 2022 (La Trompette, London) : Bright, richer, more oxidative end of the spectrum. A bit reticent initially and took a bit to come out of its shell. However, the wait was rewarded with rich summer fruits, nuts and brioche. Performed a lot better with the tart than the canapé preceding it.

I struggled on whether to click the I like it button on this one. I do in general - it’s aged champagne and that’s always a favorite for me. On the other hand for a 1990 champagne I was a bit underwhelmed. It’s totally fine, but a bit more basic and hasn’t gotten the complexity of expect. Was much better with food. Enjoyable for sure so I think this was maybe a reality minus expectations situation.

(Disgorged in 2000, 55% Pinot Noir, 10% Meunier and 35% Chardonnay) Lovely intense yellow colour with fine bubbles filling the glass. Mature nose showing mature red apples, mint chocolate and some butterscotch and acacia honey sweetness. Lovely evolved palate filled with butterscotch notes almost covering the refreshing red apples acidity and lovely creamy mid before the lime zesty bitterness takes over on the lengthy and very refreshing finish. In a perfect drinking window right now! (Best 2010-2030)

Notes pretty much in line with the bottle from way back in 2010, which seemed old even then. Age is undeniable: lots of tertiary aromas and flavors of yellow apple, dried apple, sherry and grilled lemon. Bead is tired. Still, it was worth serving as an example of what a quality champagne becomes when it’s past its prime.

Stunning, generous wine. Already showing remarkably well from a magnum. I’ve been enjoying this house a lot the last few years.

This is my style of champagne. While I avoid opulent still wines, I love a luscious champagne. The combination of dense fruit, glycerine mouthfeel, acidity and bead is gratifying. This wine has generous creamy lemon and tangerine, as well as some nice tropical flavors. I’ve really been liking ever Deutz I’ve encountered lately.

Last bottle of the lot I purchased from a private collection. This one has definitely gone into the tertiary flavors and wasn't the best example of the bottles that I had purchased. Striking flavors of morel mushroom poached apricots and a nice chalky solid quality made this a better pairing for cheese course after a meal.

Dominated by toasty pinot noir flavors, but very soft and out of balance at present with unintegrated sugar. I give this a strong hold, it's just not interesting for me at the present time. I prefer this style of Champagne at a more mature phase of development, so YMMV if you like them young.

As other tasters have suggested, this wine is astonishingly youthful and fresh despite the number of years this wine has been on the cork. The nose and palate experience are not at all oxidative, although there are subtle tertiary flavor notes that hint at the extensive bottle age. On the palate, I found lemon and green apple, fresh acidity and a wonderfully creamy mousse. This was the wine of the night in an impressive NYE lineup that included 1993 Dom …

Utrolig bra Champagne.

Truffle pop-up and good wine (Sabatino's Truffles on 54th Street) : Really quite tasty. This was still pretty fresh for a 90 champagne. Lots of nuttiness. Some caramel. That layered set of tastes that really makes a wine stand out. And interesting. Not really a standard taste profile, but one that feels more unique and special to this wine.

Youthful nose showing minerals, flowers and acacia honey accompanied by an amenable palate with typical vintage soft acidity and a lighter and more easy going taste. Long and refined finish without so much intensity as some other vintages show. Still, it feels like it will be pleasing and available already and for another decade. Best 2019-2024.

(Disgorged in fall of 2015) Very light yellow colour with a stream of fine and tiny bubbles that lead way to a wonderful nose showing hazelnuts, chalks, minerals and herbs in a very youthful style. Fruity palate showing youthful acidity and a creamy mousse that leads to the very long and bitter lemon peel finish. Wonderful expression. Delikat og givende nese med innslag av bakst, toast, jordbær-sjokolade, aprikos og epler. Høy syre, stram struktur. Små delikate bobler. Ung i utrykket. Medium pluss intens. Medium lang utgang. Etter en times tid med luft vokser vinen og pådrar seg større fylde. Dette ga vinen et flott forhold mellom syre og kremet konsistens. Dufter av godt stekt brød ble mer fremtredende på nese.

In terms of colour in between 1990 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de blancs and 1990 Dom Perignon. Expressive on the nose, a little oxidative with notes of bruised apples, nuts, dried fruit and an almost smoky character. Really vibrant and fresh on the palate, a bit more lively than the Taittinger, broad and rich, some chalky minerality. Amazing finish with great intensity and persistence - excellent. My WOTN. 93-95
