RP (91) and JS (96) ratings a good barometer on this wine. Drinking beautifully now, also feels like it has plenty of life if you want to age it.

Double decanted off its sediment and poured ninety minutes later. Notes of baked cherry, wood spice, something a little stemmy, and forest floor. Flavors of baked red fruit and earth. Nice.

2004 vintage

Very forward aromatic out of the bottle. Still lots of fruit left in this bottling with some licorice, soy and maybe a touch of raisin on the finish. Full bodied and not a shy wine, and it has held up remarkably well over the years.

Wine Wednesday - Mixed Bag (Grapes & Grains, Temecula, CA) : Lovely bottle. Intensely divine aromatics ranging from tea, dried raspberry, green olive, and spice. Balanced and lively on the palate. Hands down, the favorite from the tasting.

Medium crimson with a slightly cloudy color, this wine showed raspberry, stewed plum and smoke on the nose. The mouth feel brought unexpectedly high acidity and a somewhat oxidative taste. The finish was a little harsh with the excess acidity overwhelming the nice fruit. My last bottle. These have been nice. Very mellow at this point. It took about half an hour to blossom. I had stood it for about a week. I did not decant it for sediment. It didn't throw a lot of sediment, but was fairly cloudy in the glass. The nose is soft but some swirling brings out some spicy notes and a little smoke. Excellent showing of a full bodied, chery laden pinot. Not exemplary to the region (in fact, CA in weight and profile), but seriously delicious none the less. Menthol, cherry, garrigue, loam and vanilla. Balaned and full of character. Smooth and opulent, with chocolate escorting the powerful finish. 8-18-9-8

Boy! This was a delcious bottle! It needed a little air before waking up. After about an hour in the glass, the wine began to sing! Nose of brambley, earthy, bright raspberry. Clear dark ruby with just hints of bricking. Cherry, earthy, some licorice flavors. I detect some bitterness and a kind of stewed character that I don't find that appealing on the very long finish. My wife doesn't detect any bitterness so maybe it's just me.

San Diego WineSpectator.com Offline, 4/12/2013 (San Diego) : Hazy blood-ruby color. Sharp nose of green olives, balsamic, rust, tart red fruit, cedar. Similar on the palate. A somewhat atypical Oregon pinot noir. Nice food wine.

This is what great Oregon Pinot is all about. I am already grieving the fact this is my last bottle of 6 because it has been nothing short of spectacular each and every time I have tasted it. Dark ruby in the glass, bricking at the rim. Mellow, elegant. Black cherry and earth, hints of tea. Acidity is firm but not intense. Long finish. Very pretty.

Good OR pinot nose. In good shape, if not a blockbuster. Spice and tobacco smoke on the entry, good red fruit and sangre midpalate. Juicy acidity. Easy to drink. Would say drink these now.

After 30 min the wine opened up after we decanted it. It had a great nose and had a lot of dark fruits. Very smooth finish with a little tannis

Oh man, this is so good. I was concerned when I opened it because there wasn't much going on. After about an hour in the decanter it really blossomed. So much going on. Dark cherry and smoke on the nose. On the palate in turns, dark cherry, smoke, earth, barnyard, tea, even a hint of licorice. Very intense acidity. Long finish.

Floral, pepper and earth. Decanted 2 hours and not opening up. Short and rather boring finish. I have not enjoyed any of the wines since the 02/03 vintages.

Not a very good Pinot and over the course of the night did not improve at all. No sign of any damage and other than earth, pepper and floral notes not a lot going on. Short finish. I have not enjoyed these wines after the first two vintages and will keep buying St. Innocent Pinots.

Nose: Peppery, cedary, green action to go along with dark and ripe berries - cherries, boysenberries, raspberries. There's also noticeable sarsaparilla, caramel, and coffee aromas. All in all, the nose has a ton of action. Noticeable oak characteristics, but ample fruit elements as well. Outstanding! Very pleasant strong nose with lots going on - dark cherries, earth, spices, black pepper. On the palate, more dark cherries and earth. Very smooth on the palate, medium bodied. Long finish.

Wow. This is the best pinot I've ever had. Decanted for one hour. Hazy dark garnet in the glass. Simple nose of red berries. On the palate more red berries (raspberry), a slight hint of sourness and several of the following in slight amounts: minerals, earth, vanilla, something that reminds me of almonds. Velvety mouthfeel with some tannins appearing near the finish. Long, long finish of minerals and red fruit.

I think this wine needs to be put away for 6 or more years. It has some serious evolving to do and excellent potential. The last glass, many days later, was by far the best.

Full bodied, with more earthy characteristics than fruit. Tight right now with tremendous potential. I was sorry I didn't have the wine decanted at X2O, since it's really too young to thoroughly enjoy at this time, but it is still a beautiful wine.
