Forces Telluriques Viré-Clessé

Lovely on first and second day.

Fresh, crisp, lemony, dry with a gentle undercurrent of flower petals.

I’d never had a Viré Clessé before and was thrilled by how interesting and good it was. Fairly heavy Chardonnay but not at all over oaked and with a brisk, fresh acidity to balance the full, slightly oleaginous mouthfeel. Some Meyer lemon fruit but the dominant flavors are of straw, white flowers, cooked bell pepper and a sherry like note, with a crisp minerality. Fairly long finish.

Best on day one.

Still young with a lot of potential for development. Fresh and crisp.

{Purchased Sept 2022, consumed over seafood paella with friends} Delicious, medium-to-heavy weight wine, curiously attractive depth of flavor that appear in the attack, better an hour after opening. Excellent persistence, none of the over-the-top exoticism that can bedevil the wines from Pouilly. A big hit with The Friends.

Pop n pour this evening. What we'll made wine! Delicious! Subtle nose, gorgeous fruit, good length. Very very young but enjoyable and will improve. Impeccable balance. I'd bet would be worth getting mags, this is serious wine.
