Final bottle from a four bottle lot. Showing beautifully today. Strawberries and a whiff of undergrowth, oak spice, silky texture, noticeably lactic, delicately sweet, paper fine tannins, very good resonance and length. Open and attractive, delicious but much less Burgundian than the previous bottle. It seems decidedly Germanic today.

Third bottle from a four bottle lot purchased from the Dutch importer in 2020. Confirms the positive impression from 18 months ago. Beautifully pure and precise, quite Burgundian in style (Volnay comes to mind), transparent and fresh, sweet red berries, white flowers and a whiff of dead leaves, papery tannins, lovely hint of oak on the finish, very good resonance and length. Second bottle from a four bottle lot purchased from the Dutch importer in 2020. There is real finesse here, with a lovely ease and precision of expression, everything is present and nothing is out of place, the character is distinctly Volnay-like, the wine is flowing and elegant, and displays excellent resonance and length. A joy to drink - now and over the next five years.

My first wine from German cult star Lukas Hammelmann, and it did not disappoint. Seemingly weightless but with intense aromas, floral and flowing, fresh and delicately tannic, with a hint of tobacco and a whiff of of forest floor, slightly introverted but with real finesse, needs a bit of time but already convinces with its effortless elegance.

This is Spätburgunder at is finest, succulent, elegant, balanced, and velvety smooth with ravishing (Pinot Noir) fruit. Volnay like and very delicious!
