Fresh redcurrant, nice structure, simple but fresh and good value. From a magnum.

Deep red/ purple colour, some fading at the rim, no orange. Hugely aromatic nose - cardamom, tobacco, camphor, mint - plus blackcurrants and some forest floor notes. Very supple tannin, stewed fruit, ripe and heady, more baking type spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. Warm finish noticeable alcohol. Still great fun. This is ageing really nicely. I didn't decant because from previous bottles it fell apart quite quickly.

In a good place, still some plummy fruit, a bit of spice, and quite fresh. Basic but excellent value.

Dark fruit on the nose, plums, and dark chocolate. With time baking spices, tobacco and even a little mint. On the palate, still some bite here, powdery tannin, fresh fruit which becomes more stewed the longer it is open. Lavender floral notes and dark chocolate. Much much better than the last time I had this. This is very nice. Needs decanting but I think don’t decant too early because the fruit falls away a little after a couple of hours.

Should have allowed an hour or more breathing. Gassed and corked, reopened 2 nights later, then was fully opened up and quite nice. Some depth, nice fruit, moderately long finish. Very good QPR.

This may simply be in a poor drinking window. Right now it feels like it has diminished relative to earlier tastings. There is little immediacy or vibrancy, with a fruit-punch like flavor sense. There is a lack of depth or character. So, perfectly pleasant, and may work well with some food items, but not at its best in this bottle.

Fresh redcurrant fruit; a clean claret for everyday drinking. Good value.

Fruit still plummy and fresh, and there’s plenty of bite and structure initially. I liked this though not sure the age has really improved this. With time in the glass it did start to become a bit flabby and the fruit lost its freshness which makes me think it's perhaps not for keeping. Very competent if not terribly exciting Bordeaux. Still, it was nice with shepherds pie and we finished the bottle quite quickly.

Continues to be an outstanding QPR. This pairs well with food and is a good drinking window -- similar to other reviews --

Value Bordeaux Tasting - came in third place. Decent mid-palate, ok finish. Would pick up again for the price.

Enjoyable, but still not an 'over the top' wine; good value for the spending and its also clearly improved from the last bottle sampled. Will continue to look forward to the remaining two.

Excellent QPR. At the same time, nothing really outstanding, at this stage. I agree with the other reviewers that this may further improve with more time in cellar. Right now its drinking well, but at the 'average' level, rather than a 'memorable moment' sense.

I have gone through several cases in the past two years. It is the perfect miniature, and this happens to come from a great year. 2009 might be slightly more muscular, but this one shows more range. For the price, the Pitray just cannot be beat. The tannins are still yet to be resolved. Decanting helps a little, but great things are lying in wait for this wine. Monster fruit awaiting to show itself.

Decanted and drank over the course of an evening. Quite tannic and fresh at first but softened greatly after a couple of hours. Would recommend decanting at least 2 hours before drinking.

A tasty, good value Bordeaux. Ripe fruit, lovely earthiness, nice tannins and great balance.
