14.5% but perhaps age has allowed the burn to subside. Medium red core, bricking at the rim. Viscous legs. Blueberry, black cherry. Still some grip. Linear tartness. Very nice. Purchased from Costco in 2013 and kept temperature controlled since.

Drinking in its prime right now. Tannins still provide a bit of tightness but the fruit is front & center. Plum, cherry, and a little strawberry.

Ripe red & black fruit on the nose. Not overly complex, but for the price, hard to criticize this wine.

While others have suggested this might be over the hill, this bottle was excellent. Lots of herbs and berries, plum, and some other complexities. Long finish.

Direkt vor dem Probieren geöffnet. - Im Bouquet und Geschmack deutlich konzentrierter und komplexer als Rosso di M vorher - Jetzt aber auch zu trinken, im Trinkfenster. Nicht mehr so lange aufheben.

Very interesting nose here; ripe fruit, yet focused as well - complex. A light weight for a BdM on the palate - while I like the nose here, at first blush this wine isn't as satisfying as the 2005 I just tried. Savory fruit notes starting to emerge, though, so this may yet win me over.

Opened at restaurant. My last bottle of this wine. Past it’s prime. Still enjoyable, but not what it was. Definitely, should have had this bottle a few years ago. I rated this for what it was, not now, since I waited too long.

PnP. Initially closed aromas. With swirling some bright, sour cherry appears followed by menthol or eucalyptus, leather, tobacco, a touch of iron, a bit of wet earth. On the palate bright, red fruit, bright acid, a gentle grip of tannin, ending in a neutral to slightly mouth-watering finish. The body is initially on the light side, probably needing a little time to fill in. Color is deep red fading through ruby red to a wet pink-orange at the edge. Wine …

No formal note, very good bottle of brunello, with a lot of character that comes from enough age to allow some interesting development.

Very good. Dried cherry and cranberry. Baking spice and cedar. Integrated tannins. This one seems to be at its peak.

Might be a shade lighter in the glass than the 2005. More of a mix of red & black fruits here on the nose, with a saline note as well. This still has a modest tannic bite to it on the palate, but ripe red fruits carry through to the finish, framed by nice acidity. I think I might have a slight preference for this vintage, but both of these are drinking very well right now.

Unkomplizierter schöner Wein. Rund, schön zu trinken. Werde aber nicht wirklich warm mit Brunello.

Dried berries, herbs, a bit of earth, and a core of currants. Nice wine clearly showing a bit of age but based on the tannin structure clearly has time to go still. Drink or hold.

Bright cherry nose with some hints of mint and evergreen. Had with Beef and it stood up ok but truffle mac and cheese turned it into an acidic mess. Black raspberry, anise and pomegranate in the palate makes this a lovely food wine.

Tight at first, with green tobacco and earth, then opens to leather and cherry. Ruby/garnet in the glass, beautiful color. Opened up after an hour with dark fruit and black cherry on the palate with a medium finish. Moderate tannins, can use a bit more time.

Blind tasted. Nose showed Italian style of dried cherry, dried blackberry, wet stone, white pepper. Moderate plus tannins, medium alcohol, medium plus acidity and complexity. Correctly guessed 2008 Sangiovese, though I said Vino Nobile.

A beautiful Brunello, the 2008 La Gerla exhibits massive sweet red fruit, almonds, subtle Acacia honey combined with expressive saddle leather. The palate is nicely balanced and also very integrated despite its youth. The length on the finish lasts some 45 seconds. A very nice wine, if you prefer the more fruit forward style of Brunello.

Popped, decanted, and poured. Dark red color with a beautiful nose. A little rough upon opening, but by the second glass, smoothed out, with a lot of red fruit character, and a medium-length finish. I think in another year, the wine will be at it's best.

Profile Portfolio Tasting (Liberty Grand, Toronto, Canada) : Medium ruby colour with garnet flecks. Ripe nose of plum, cherry, and currant. Medium-to-full bodied. Everything is surprisingly in check/balanced considering the heat of the vintage. Good acidity and freshness with little-to-no roasted fruit notes. Attractive finish. Drink 2010+.
