Shadow Mountain Vineyards Zinfandel Old Vines

A really fantastic wine from one of my favorite boutique wineries. Very worth visiting high up on Mt Palomar in San Diego County. Color is very dark. Nose has sweet spice, red and black fruit, white pepper, and a beautiful licorice. Palate has licorice and a fantastic graphite texture. The wine is mouthcoating and leads to a long finish. There's also a gorgeous dusty tannin effect reminiscent of a good brunello. Excellent wine.
