rather gentle chablis with soft acidity, not so much characterised by the warm vintage, but still oily and ripe.Very drinkable !

Pale champagne colour, as if it had just been bottled. Suggests strongly that it will keep for a long time. Sensationally linear and racy to start with, the purity achieved here is truly excellent in the context of the vintage. You simply don't get any signature, in fact the opposite seems true. Then you get the mid-palate weight, with a chiselled mineral core, zesty lime and white apple, a tang of salt and mouth-watering acidity that is bordering on perfection. …

Very pale greeny gold. Much better than I was expecting, terrifically saline and without the 2018 richness that I feared might be present. It lacks a little clarity in the middle perhaps, but the citrus element is mouthwatering, the white fruit is clean and sharp at the start, and the finish is salivating, like sucking on a salty pebble. Nice wine, glad I have more.

Chablis and I rarely cross paths; it’s just not my cup of tea - or glass of wine, if you will - given its typical aromatic profile and stylistic leanings (perhaps I need to venture more into the realms of Raveneau to start to love it). This ripe 2018 vintage of Billaud MdT, certainly didn’t convert me. Beyond the general style and aromatics that I tend to shy away from, the wine lacked definition, feeling flabby from the mid-palate onward. …

Nice nose here with oak spice and lemon. The palate was a bit too rich and fruity.

A little rounder and more showing the very ripe vintage compared to my last bottle. Still a very nice Chablis, just not up there with the best vintages at this address.

Tasted at a social event. Fruit of green apple and fresh green herbs. Crisp and firm acidity, but otherwise rather flabby structure.

For a 2018, this was standout. The nose is flint, sea breeze salinity and lemon peel with a soft undercurrent of floridity. The palate possesses a well balance mouth feel that has resolved nicely - no mouth pucker here but the acid is still very much evident and add excellent round structure. Slate and crushed oyster shell with more lemon peel is reinforced here with high acidity and mid low sugar. The finish is more dense minerality akin to swishing …

Citrus peel, wild flower, sea breeze. Ripe, medium bodied, but balanced with a fine acidity. Good.

Ripe green and orange fruit on the nose with crushed sea shells. The palate is light, creamy, and rich, bringing a core of kiwi-lime, lemon curd, pineapples, and saline. Medium acidity reflects the vintage. Still ahead of prime window so drink 2024-2030. Technical score: 92. Enjoyment score: 92.

Taken from the winefridge, poured into Zalto Burgundy, amazing experience, simply glorious, approchable now, but will hold more years ,2025 will be right.

I think slow ox'ing for this bottle for over an hour was a bad idea. This wine would have benefitted more from a pop & pour so you get a better sense, but at the same time this was a warm vintage. It doesn't help that the 20% oak created more creaminess than necessary for this wine. In terms of food pairings, this was a bit too light and much lower acidity than expected, but texture and acidity, the wine …

Clear, pale lemon color, very bright. Aromas of orange zest & lime flesh, ginger powder, verbena, crushed limestone and oyster shell salinity. Bright, succulent citrus flavors with hints of quince, with layered savory spice and salinity. Dense and compact, with rounded edges. Medium-plus acid, totally integrated. Fleshy, structured finish with lingering citrus zest and minerals. Very fine.

Sam Billaud's 2018 MdT is quite good with classic citrus peel, white flower, and sea breeze notes, albeit light on the stone and minerality as is common for the vintage. Crisp with good acidity.

Lemony goodness that is barely nipping at the heels of 1er Cru quality. It’s clean and fresh as expected but has some character to find - if it can. I’m happy with the bit of zip it offers on the back end, but performs at the village level for me in terms of density and drive. Complexity is also one note. It’s a good note, but the effect of layering is not as distinguished as I would prefer. Paired fine …

3 bottles over 10 days. Partly from Coravin. This MDT has everything you expect from a top producer Chablis. Appealing yellow fruit citrus nose, forward and very open palette rounded by the warm vintage. Certainly open for business, I would suspect the acidity to be on the lower side for long time storage but spot on for now. So much value and just lovely, a favorite premier cru at the moment. A shame the gran cru`s from Samuel come in …

This needed a bit of air and a larger glass to show at its best. Ripe notes of pear, but also some citrus, some orange zest, chalk, steely minerality and some sea salt. It‘s medium-full bodied, with medium-high acidity and just overall very nice balance. This doesn‘t taste warm at all considering the pretty hot vintage. It does have an extra layer of fruit and ripeness compared to the 2017. Good length. A very nice, fascinating Montée de Tonnerre that …

Tasted after their 2018 Chablis. A lot more power and energy here. Very bright and intense, lots of minerality, great acidity and plenty of ripe fruit. Long finish. Very grippy, almost a bit edgy at this stage, very promising. 91-92+
