I drank the first one some fourteen months ago and there is scarcely any difference between them. Hardly surprising. Rich and intense spicy dark cherry, a hint of resin. Even Dulcie was moved to announce that it was "very good." Back in those days we would receive detailed notes on the wine making: days of cold soak, fermentation time, skin contact, barrel aging and so on. Pity this feature has faded away.

Decanted. Incredibly aromatic on the nose and incredibly savory. Aromas show a complex mix of black pepper, earth, sous bois, camp smoke, dry aged meats, garrigue, leather, tobacco, whole cluster vegetal notes and hints of black plum, dried sour cherry, and desiccated florals with hints of graphite and iron. On the palate a light bodied frame carries big flavors, structured acidity and integrated medium-plus tannins. Flavors reflect the savoriness found on the nose with delineated spice notes, garrigue, sous bois, …

Back to 2011 on our gallop through the White Rose vintages. The Guillen vineyard among the more prestigious for this estate I believe. Fairly pale ruby in color with that sumptuous, voluptuous aroma that one craves from a good Oregon pinot (or Burgundy for that matter). Surprisingly tart on first tasting - very towards the red cherry end of the spectrum, yet with layers of subtlety and length. Will last a good few more years I think.

In a time before the "Explorer Series" and currently with no notes, not even one from me. Drank in very close proximity to a 2013 (both odd-numbered vintages are very good) and, while a different vineyard does not allow for close comparison, I found this one to be a more substantial wine: lovely perfumed aroma, clear ruby, layers of dark cherry, mellow and rounded: lots of years yet here.

A bit watery - drink the other bottle within this year. Slight sour aftertaste

Decant of 1/2 hour, so should have been a bit longer since in the bottle 10 years... light to medium crimson in color; with fast legs. Aroma of plum and raspberry. Flavors of plum, strawberry and hint of straw. Nice finish on the onguw, fairly long... overall a little on the mild side with flavor

The White Rose Maresh bottlings are relatively rare (I think) - at least I have only two vintages in stock. 2011 is one of my favorite years and this does not disappoint. A relatively pale bright ruby, a somewhat muted brooding aroma compared to many from this domaine. Upon the palate it does not disappoint, with explosive tart cherry and spice, a little smoke and mineral components, relatively high acidity.

Some bricking noticeable, and thin looking. The nose was expressive with theme of pickled vegetables. The body was very tart, with little fruit. Tannins were gritty. Slightly astringent. Not very popular with the group that prefers more fruit forward wines. For the right palette, and perhaps food, it would be a very nice wine.

Nose is effusive...fragrant rose petal, cherry ...nice floral light but really there nose Flavor is strawberry, light cherry, rose... wrapped in a nice acidity.. A finesse wine that needs to be savoured over an extended period... It deserves time in the glass and nuanced examination.... Qpr?...hmmm heavy to overcome at $100....like it a lot but not worth the price of admission...

First tasted this wine in the barrel back in 2012 and made a small investment in futures. First tasting at the winery later on suggested something a little green. Now with Copper River salmon in season I thought it was time to revisit. Few wines fill the Vinum Extreme with such opulence as do those of White Rose; this one quite potently fragrant with some resiny notes. Fairly pale but bright glittering red. Notable acid, but now much more fruit …

Mellow fruit, great balance. Old World nuance with a little bit of New World Fruit.

A very light Pinot from Oregon that is reminiscent of an Old World Burgundy, so certainly not a Sonoma Pinot. More subtle and nuanced with low alcohol, you can enjoy this for a while.

Willamette Valley Oregon Trip 4 & 1/2 Days; 7/29/2013-8/4/2013 (Willamette Valley, Oregon) : 95% whole cluster. Cinnamon, tart red fruit, stemmy, not very giving. Young, but I don't have a lot much confidence this is going to be much better. 87-88pts.

No color to ber seen, it was too dark in the tasting room.Is this supposed to convey intimacy? Old world charm? It does not work! On nose sweet round fruit, bright, hint of menthol.. On palate substantially better than the Chehalem Mountains AVA. A bit sharp, could "taste" the grape stems vinified with the berry clusters. At this point too sharp for me, the points are mainly given for the smell of the wine. Will this sharpness be reduced over …

White Rose Estate private tasting (White Rose Winery) : Tasted from barrel. I suspect the name is not totally correct here as I believe the Dragon's Bluff designation is now discontinued. Come what may, this was perhaps the most approachable of the wines in barrel, dense red cherry, good balance, drinkable, almost now.
