Quite rich, some tannin stilll here, ripe Grenache, ends bit dry, nevertheless, extraction speaks. Needs some time to open, still primary. #CellarInventory

OK, but more bitter than expected, especially after proper ageing and after 3 hours decant. Not a patch on what I enjoyed on site in Gigondas 4 years ago. Now, Grenache typically have lower tannin levels, which implies lower bitterness. Also, French oak tends to be more subtle than other oak barrels, so this bitterness surprised and disappointed me. This bitterness over rowed other sensations and traits.

What a surprise — the first 4 we’re really nothing to write home about (probably tried it last at least 5-6 years ago). The 2009 in 2022? Wow! What a transformation. Not a lot of French funk, but Forest floor, moss or faint peat? Fruit and jam in the nose and on the palette, but in harmony with the tannins… still big, but balanced, with a strong mid-palate and long finish that makes me think of a hand-baked berry pie …

Rich, warm, full bodied, well balanced with a sound, local fruit, plenty iof sweet Grenache and a refreshing acidity. There is alcohol her, but it's not overwhelming.

Tasted at the Caveau du Gigondas ... Quite appealing. Bright flavour, ripe fruits, slightly sweet, tannin wrapper, good length. Needs 3-5 years min. Of the 6 I tasted this is one of the 3 I bought.

dark ruby. pronounced spicy, herbal aromas of pepper, thyme, cloves, licorice intermingled with black cherry, cassis, blackberry in a heady, full bodied, silky potion. hints of coffee/chocolate. high tannins, high alcohol, but well hidden. i expect more development over a few years... so i need to get back to the store and a couple more bottles.

Decanted but seemed shutdown. Will let my remaining bottle rest for another couple of years.

Nice, pleasant. Lacking the depth and complexity of the 2015, but still a pleasing, generally enjoyable wine.

There is some spice on the nose and the wine is nice, it’s just a tad out of balance. The alcohol is very noticeable and takes quite a while to integrate, otherwise it’s got some really nice fruit and it’s very tasty.

Gigondas Tasting (Roswell, GA) : Lots of chocolate on the nose with dark fruit yet lighter body and fresh acid along with very tart red and darker fruit; good over the next few years though not my favorite.

This is a powerful, full-bodied, fruity and pleasant wine with alluring dark fruit flavors. The wine is very promising now, although the flavor palette will be even more multidimensional in the future.

Attractive Gigondas. Dry earth, violets, cherries on the nose. Red/Black cherries, red currant, dried thyme/savory, more dirt and maybe just a hint of brett on the palate. Definitely less extracted and more elegant body than anticipated, with rustic tannins on day 1 becoming pliable by day 3. Alcohol is noticeable, but not a sore point, given the overall balance.

Earthy nose. Dry with a bit higher alcohol not complemented with the acidity. Black and red fruit dominant on the palate. Earthy aftertaste.

Winery Visit; Dom. des Bosquets, Gogondas, Rhône, France. : In the bouquet cherries and dark forest fruits and garrigue. On the palate cherries, some minerals, good acidity and sticky tannin. The wine lacks some refinement in this stage.

This has aged so well. Very smooth, lots of muted fruit on the nose and fresh cherry on the palate. Wonderful wine!

Took to a party. Tasted after it had been open for about an hour and was underwhelmed. Incredibly jammy and one-dimensional. Two or three hours later, I tried it again and had to check the bottle to make sure it was the same wine. From 75cl, good cork. Decanted and tried at various temperatures from 15-21C: The cooler the better. Reticent, alcohol-fumes-dominated, winey scent, lacking any of the herbal/garrigue delights I had hoped for. The palate is completely dominated by roasted Grenache fruit; super-ripe gylcerine-buffered entry, residual, rough tannins on the finish suggest that this may have years to go. Has improved dramatically in the past five months. No longer alcoholic and disjointed - it's now well integrated. Still somewhat of a fruitbomb and lacks most of the secondary flavors I expect from a Southern Rhone blend (licorice, garrigue, minerals, etc.). Nevertheless, it's very enjoyable, and most of the people at the party I took it to liked it better than I did. Hasn't reached its peak just yet.

Opened only about 30 minutes before drinking. Rather Port-like nose, mostly alcohol, with a hint of charcoal. Lots of red fruits on the palate - almost sweet. Medium body with a good, fruit-driven finish. Seemed a little disjointed, so maybe it needs more time. Nevertheless, in a blind tasting, I would have guessed it to be a run-of-the-mill Dry Creek Zinfandel.

Drank without air from a bottle which was first accessed via Coravin seven weeks previously. This was full bodied with dark fruit and some spice. Very nice for the price.

Very ripe, too ripe. Subtle it ain't. Decanted an hour before dinner and sampled for 90min. Big mistake. Do not decant. 10 minutes in the glass would be just fine. Quite nice at first, but the ripe fruits note gradually degraded into a muddled non-distinct overripe stew (dead at 90min). Popped and poured. In retrospect would have been interesting to see what a decant and some time might have done. This was just very tightly wound and over the course of the hour or two that we drank it, it never really opened up. Chewy tannins and some earthy favors. Not much evolution in the glass or the palette. If rating would be more like an 87-88.

Big, ripe and dark. Transparent dark purple color; Some kale funk on the nose and earthy forest, with figs and syrupy black fruit aromas; lush, ripe, jammy, sweet black fruit flavors, figs, a savory meaty note, and firm but well integrated tannins; huge midpalate, transitioning into a long, sweet jammy finish, with touches of mint and weeds at the end. A likely crowd pleaser.

Bill's Summer Garden Offline (Vancouver, BC) : While this was being poured I was grilling up some rib-eyes so I don’t have any formal notes. A big wine that was ripe and concentrated but not over-the-top or overripe. Quite similar in fact to the 06 Prefert CdP served before it. Drinking well but lots of time to develop and improve. I am going to hold off on scoring. I decanted for over two hours but still the wine was very closed on both the nose and the flavor profile. Not a lot of tannic structure here either. I hope that this wine benefits from a rest and opens up in the next few years.

Deep purple, big garrigue nose, this is a huge wine. Big tannins...for that matter, big everything. Despite the size, there is a sense of balance - the components will need some time to integrate and settle down. This is a very typical Southern Rhone. Plenty ripe, but not at all overripe. Mark me down as impressed. I think in 10 years this will slay many a CNdP sold much higher prices.
