Still going very strong. This is big, well-balanced, and delicious. Felt like it could stay at this level for a while.

This is very fine. There is beautiful pure crunchy bojo fruit, but also a burgundian silky texture that gives this wine a unique delicacy. It is drinking perfectly at the moment. While I drank with french onion soup and other random Friday night nibbles, this could easily be the centerpiece of something special (eg roast chicken or king salmon)

Chez W, splash decanted, perfect cork and level, dense and youthful, energetic generous bramble fruit as well described in previous note here, not particularly nuanced for Burg but very nuanced for Beauj, lush and involving, possible upside, 10+ years. F+ (18).

Brilliant! About as good as Beaujolais gets. Served blind in Thierry’s office to knowledgeable friends who all picked this wine as quality red Burgundy. A top Beaujolais from Thibault from 100+ year old pre-Phylloxera vines. Rauno picked the wine as Beaujolais on bouquet but thought it was pinot noir on palate. A complex, interesting nose. Blackberries, meat juices, black tea, sous bois, dry earth, dark chocolate and spices. Good body and structure at 10 years of age. Now fully mature …

Popped and poured. Nice nose of black cherries and a little smoke. The palate shows good concentration and healthy acidity. This is a serious Beaujolais which I think will continue to age nicely and probably will improve further. Flavors of black cherry, grilled meats and olives come through in a delicious medium bodied wine.

Hint of barn yard, fairly strong acidity. Not immensely complex but really nice and drinkable

Complex and with a forest floor thing going on, drink up and enjoy the geek factor.

This is in a good spot if left to breath a while. Nice iodine and mineral notes, raspberry, tannic bite that melts with time. Lovely stuff

I thought it thin and quite unappealing. Drank something else

Strawberry on the nose. On the palate, cherry, blackberry, and black tea, with notes of currants, earth, and a touch of vinegar that did not detract from the quality, with well-balanced acidity. Excellent, but a below-average value at about $50.

Popped and poured. Perfect cork, single piece. Nice aromas of strawberry, but slightly muted. Palate is slightly more structured than most Moulins. Smooth texture, some depth. Gotta remark, a lot of Beaujolais vineyards have significant vine age. This Mouling somehow wants to make it a point of difference to justify a premium price. We both disagreed that as justified, however price aside it was enjoyable, as would another Moulin of lesser pedigree... Drink or hold, but unlikely to improve. 13% …

A private lunch (Restaurant MOS, Amsterdam, NL) : Wonderful intensity and depth of flavour, serious and structured but with a lovely pure Gamay character, not as monolithic as I remember from last year, real old-vine concentration, cool granite minerality, power without weight, violets and cherries, playful tannins, very good length. Lovely now and should last.

Showing better that a year ago, more round and supple, unctuous and spicy/tarry yet balanced. Nice.

End of 2014 wines : We served this wine blind to friends. A bouquet of dark cherries and blackberries, with a savoury meaty character. The tasters were split 50/50 as to whether this wine was a Beaujolais or a pinot noir. Superb concentration and firm tannins, flavours of plums, crème de cassis, black tea. Satiny, unctuous texture, showing its old vine character (from three sites with pre-phylloxera vines, planted in 1875 and 1882). From memory, a little behind the 2012 …

A private dinner (Restaurant Garance, Paris, France) : From two plots of ungrafted vines, planted in 1879 and 1882. A masculine and powerful, old-school rendition of the Moulin-à-Vent theme theme; deep and rich, quite tannic, more earth than pepper, black tea, tannic but with old-vine concentration to match, warm oak, very good length. Will age beautifully.

Cellar Plan Beaujolais Tasting (Berry Bros & Rudd) : Old plot within a plot. Extrememly pricey for a beaujolais. Doesn't justify the price tag for me. Feels more burgundian than a beaujolais should but maybe that is the point?

Inky dark brilliant color, heady spicy fruity nose, a teeeeeny bit tight on the palate but give it time.
