Claude et Cedric Joly L'Etoile

Tasted with Cedric Joly at the estate, and then bought a couple of bottles; these notes are from the first of the bottles. Joly is an excellent small maker whose vineyards rest in the shadow of the famous Domaine Labet but whose wines stand on their own. 2017 was a tough farming year with low yields. The result here is a lighter-bodied wine (a characteristic of many Joly wines, I’ve found). Oxidative of course, with a grassy, floral, herbaceous quality. …
