Nez intense sur des notes tertiaires de sous-bois, de cèdre et d'épices douces. Bouche bien équilibrée par l'acidité, aux tanins un peu rustiques mais d'une certaine profondeur. Un vin doté d'une belle énergie et qui offre beaucoup de choses à raconter. A maturité mais peut se garder encore 5 ans peut-être.

Licorice, black cherries, and espresso blend in the nose, and on the medium-bodied, round, chewy, chocolatey, palate. There is a dryness to the finish, so allow it a bit of time for it to develop more softness, and it could be a better wine. Drink from 2027-2038. 89-91 Pts.

Keine Frage, dieser Duft muss Fonroque sein, klar und rein wie ein Bergbach, strahlende Frucht, Himbeeren, Cassis, Kirsche, Veilchen, ein Gedicht; seidenweich am Gaumen, geschliffenes Tannin, knackig, rassig, ungemein frisch und mit einem langen, salinen Abgang. Einmal mehr ein ausgezeichneter Fonroque, der seiner frischen, eleganten Stilistik treu bleibt. (En Primeur Tasting April 2024)

Arrivé à maturité, ce vin offre de belles notes tertiaires et un magnifique équilibre sur l'acidité. Plus typé rive gauche que droite, avec son profil un peu austère.

85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc Medium body, deep garnet colour. Admirable black and blue fruits aroma complemented by cedar wood and spices. Elegant palate of sour plum and blackberry following by lingering finish. Rich but fresh and juicy, complex but delicate and silky, well balanced, grippy tannins and vital acidity. Food friendly, well pairing to beef bourguignon. Serve 18ºC - 20ºC. Open one hour ahead. Drink now and next eight/ten years.

The wine seems to be at the numb stage as the fruit has receeded and the tertiary amroma has not creeped in. Far less appealing that the one almost 2 years ago. HOLD for a few years. 87 with 90+ potential

I bought a case of 6 about a year ago and wasn’t impressed with the first bottles. This is the first bottle i really enjoyed. One noticeable difference with previous bottles is that the tannins have mellowed. Maybe this has allowed the wine to open up. Or maybe the bottles are variable and this was a better one. Anyway, this bottle had good structure and some sweetness to it. Curious to see what my last bottle has to offer

Très joli St.-Emilion, à son apogée, arômes de cassis, d'épices douces, de cèdre. En bouche, il y a une certaine matière même si cela manque de complexité, une belle acidité et une longueur moyenne. L'alcool est bien intégré, les tanins sont polis, je pense que le vin est à boire durant les 5 prochaines années.

Agree with the note of LEXIUM below. Young but approachable. I just feel that it still needs a good few years to develop the complexity which will bring it to another level. A very well made wine, and potentially great QPR. 89 today and 92 potentially in 5 years

PnP. Lively nose with raspberry juice aroma and hints of pepper. On the palate, the aromas develop and are more complex. On the attack, raspberry juice and pepper are present but the fruit becomes more complex on the blackberry. Notes of vanilla and tobacco appear at middle length, as well as subtle notes of chocolate which remain until the finish. Superb aromatic structure on this wine, well supported by well-integrated tannins and a marked acidity. Can remain another 5+ years …

J’ignore si j’ai récupéré toutes mes facultés olfactives et gustatives mais je n’ai pas décelé beaucoup de nuances dans ce vin lors de la dégustation ce soir. Une note lactique au nez, quelques arômes de fruits, surtout du cassis en bouche, peu de complexité et une longueur moyenne. Les autres ont beaucoup aimé. A revoir.

We liked this wine much better than the 1986Troplong Mondot from yesterday. More expressive and a better balance. The cork was of bad quality, but after some work all wine made it in the decanter. Brownish brick, nice nose and on the palate a good mix of fruit, leather and plum. A nice, long finish made this an excellent tasting experience.

Nez sur les fruits rouges et noirs, avec des notes réglissées. La bouche offre du volume et de la fraîcheur, mais les tanins ne sont pas encore fondus. Une note minérale apporte de la complexité à ce vin qui doit encore être attendu quelques années. L'ensemble est original et ne présente pas le profil du bordeaux standard.

Heavy tannin. Smooth and rich. Bramble, raspberry, chocolate and tobacco. Good with roast beef, but opened up more after a couple of hours. Maybe keep for a year to allow the tannins to soften.

Nice nose smell the merlot. Drank well very fruity, and nice persistance. Still feel it needs to age as tannins are still quite present making it a crisp drink yet. Actually paired it with Veal, will be nice choice in a few years as the wine ages and looses it tannic side.

Medium bodied, fresh, bright, crisp, soft red fruits, licorice and earthy sensations are the hallmark of this wine. Give it a few more years to soften and develop more aromatic complexity. The wine was made from a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc.

Still a bit of life. Crazy old bottle with about 10% gone due to ullage. Even a touch of fruit remaining, but mostly oxidized and reasonably pleasant. A real treat once the cork was finally full removed.

Drank at Davy's Biodynamic, no filtration, no fining. Rich open lush caramel nose. Still quite tannic on the palate with a short length. Give this another couple of years and it should be wonderful.

Très beau St-Emilion moderne et jeune, fougueux même, qui se boit avec énormément de facilité et de plaisir. Malgré sa haute teneur en alcool (14.5%), le vin n'est jamais lourd ou écoeurant... bien au contraire! Je pense qu'il tiendra une bonne quinzaine d'années mais je ne suis pas sûr de pouvoir conserver les bouteilles restantes aussi longtemps...

Decanted about one hour before serving. Wonderful, luscious wine; paired well with entrecôte. Although still a young wine, it can be enjoyed now since the tannins were soft and smooth.

One of the first estates to embrace Biodynamic farming in St. Emilion produced wine focused on black raspberry, stone and fennel characteristics. Soft, polished and medium bodied, this can be enjoyed now, but it should be better after a few years in the bottle.

Nose is not too giving, but very nice taste with great complexity (mushrooms,etc). Finish is a bit dry but overall still excellent after all these years.

Drank this wine with T-bone steak at Tahoe. The cork was crumbly but was successful removed. The wine had a brick edge and nose and did not smell or taste at its prime by itself, but the afterburners kicked in with the food. It was fantastic with the steak, with the subdued fruit coming alive and the slight oxidation disappearing.Our sommelier guest at dinner gave it an 89.

Enjoyed much more than previous bottle. Nose of clove, mocha and leather. Very well balanced with great fruit remaining. Silky with tannins pretty much resolved. Very easy to drink on its own. Good now, but still has life.

Fully mature, but not old. Black cherry, leather and tobacco on first pass. As this opened, more minerals emerged with a silkiness on the midpalate and firm tannins. The last glass did show some fading of the fruit, so better to not decant.

Similar note to JuniorSamples...Great nose of lilies typical of aged bordeaux. Drinking quite nice, but will likely not get a lot better. Enjoy now.

Decanted for about half an hour. Garnet color, starting to fade. Great floral, mineral nose. Really teases on the front palate, with cherry and raspberry, but gives way to very little on the midpalate. Over time, cigar box and gravel appeared on the midpalate. Overall, pleasant but unremarkable aged Bordeaux. I can't see it getting better with age, so drink up.
