Had this with baked chicken. Very crisp but light on fruit. A bit of a bitter note.

This is more like it. After so many oxidized bottles of Burgundy this win was a pleasant surprise. Fresh and bright went well with home made chicken barley soup.

La Paulée de San Francisco - The Verticals (The Fairmont - San Francisco CA) : Tasting, brief note. Lemon and lemon peel again with subtle spice. Rounded textures add interest, but overall slightly simple 1er Cru. Good. Probably the best of the vertical.

Bought 6 splits from JJBuckley. First two were completely oxidized. Yuck. Opened 3rd 375ml tonight before dumping the lot. Finally - success!! No nose while it was still cooled. At room temp - began to finally come to life. Warm apple and apricots with a nice mineral finish. ....very curious about the final 3. Golden yellow colored. The legs are fast. There is no sediment in the bottle.

Apricots, peaches, nuts in the nose; fat middle palate accompanies the honeyed fruit, balanced by some nice acidity and steely minerality at the end. Drink or hold.

Oxidized - again!!! I opened two halves. One was very good (prob. 93+) and then the 2nd was oxidized. That's about right - 50%+ oxidized. Won't buy more from Matrot.

Premox'd. Again!

Pre-mox strikes again. My first 2008 showing evidence of this problem. Hopefully it was an isolated bottle as I still have a good bit of this left.

After giving a number of 375s away as holiday gifts, I was slightly horrified when I read previous notes here re: premox. So opened a 375 as a tester. I don't get a ton of presence on the nose, but that could be poor glass choice on my part. On the palate, this has a note of nuttiness, but this bottle anyway is far from premox. Good acidity and lively fruit, with a backdrop of maturity. Drinking well now. That …

Pop and pour of a 375. Not showing much on the nose. A little oily on the palate. Another halve that I believe may be slightly oxidized - glad it is my last one.

NC Tasting 09 June 2012 JohnR's New House (JohnR's New House Wake Forest) : Opened two 500 mL bottles of this wine as the first bottle was oxidized in a major way (smelled like yogurt). Second bottle was sound; apples, limes, stonefruit, and mineral nose with less body than expected and a bitter, off-putting "pure lime juice in seltzer water" finish. Carries the curse of 2008 Burgundy and a WK B- rating.

From .375. Golden in color. Slightly oxidized. White flowers, peppers and a hint of saltiness. Nice acidity. An interesting wine - though not sure it is completely sound.

Pale gold color, faint pineapple and seaside on the subdued nose. Bridget minerality and some salt with a nice resonant finish. Nice wine.

Blah. Way too international for me. I can buy buttered popcorn much closer than Burgundy. Can this really be a representative bottle?

pnp from 375. really good stuff, and a reminder why white burg is so darned good. my first meursault-blagny, and while i don't know how indicative this producer is of the village, but i really enjoyed it. bone dry, strong minerality and salinity, but enough baked apple and pie crust crumbles to remain interesting. this went down so easily while i was cooking. loved it!

From .375. This was a pop and pour and I think would have benefited from a decant. A bit of toast and yeast on the nose. Dominated by minerality and saltiness. Interesting wine.

I enjoyed this wine. Pleasant straw color. Hay, mineral, lemon zest and background oak. Mouthfeel was well integrated yet a little muted. Finish was clean and refreshing.

Very nice white burg. Great balance of creamy tropical fruits and a mineral crispness. Nice bit of acidity. Great wine.

Degustato presso la Domaine. L'annata 2008 ha subito una grandinata a gennaio che ha colpito meno i 1° Cru. Si presenta di un colore giallo carico e al naso con sentori di agrumi. Buona acidità e mineralità anche se un po rotondo.

Very pale color. Slow tears. Faint bouquet of green apple. Slightly tart with pear, honey, berry and spice. Strong mineral note.
