Prior bottle was a bit over 13 months ago and my notes were virtually identical. White peach and white pineapple along with mango and plenty of citrus/acidity on the nose. Close to medium bodied (7.5% ABV) with white peach upfront, moving quickly to yellow peach and white/yellow pineapple through the middle. Christmas Day 2020 (My place, Kent Street) : Served with nectarines wrapped in proscuitto di parma or jamon iberica. From Coravin. this was the most muted of the wines for this bracket...quite mineral with a slight herbaceous note accompanying green apple, similar flavours on the palat. It was also the most out of balance; not massively so but the other wines were very 'complete'. I found the acid and sugar not very integrated. Probably the worst food match as well. …

Great nose of lime, lemon, ripe grapefruit, orange oil, peach, apricot. The palate is dense, tons of flavor, citrus and stone fruit, wet rock, rye bread, orange marmalade. Really good wine for the price.

Still sweet but becoming more complex than two years ago. Nice balance of ripe fruits and juicy acidity, long finish. Drink or hold.

Fumey matchstick on the nose that dissipates after an hour. Wonderfully light-textured and graceful, with ripe pear, apricot and tangerine fruits all vying for attention. Lots of minerals, a whiff of petrol, and a bit of reduction present in the mouth as well. Seems on the drier end of spätlese, but it could be just that the balance is so finely tuned that the sweetness falls to the background. From Coravin. Initially a little kerosene, again a little herbaceous note over muted apple and lemon fruit, slight white pepper, generally more mineral than the 2007 for me on the nose. Off dry but the acid is more lemon than apple for me here. there is also a little soft textured burr to the mid palate. Quite simple but travels long. Okay.

Nice classic wet stone, petrol, and lime aromas and flavors, with somewhat understated fruit - a mix of golden apple and tropical and stone fruits - and a nice dose of cumin-like spice (evocative of falafel). Acid-driven, but with enough fairly moderate sweetness for good balance. Stony finish. Plenty of typicity and character, with a sense of precision and focus, and just plain tasty.

My eighth bottle of this over two years. Some variation but all within 84-92 points. This bottle is one of my favorites. Beautiful flower and lemony nose some slightly reductive and smoky complexity and a hint of petrol as well. Still a hint of fermentation funk!(?) Ripe palate which still feels a little bit too sweet. Still an infant this Spätlese has so much potential. A lot of fruit (peach, some quince) and minerality on the bouquet are counterbalanced by an enormous amount of nicely balanced acidity. This wine will need quite some time and than merit an even higher score.

A Rieslingfeier of our Own; 2/13/2017-2/18/2017 (Traben-Trarbach, Germany) : Very elegant and floral, and a definite step up in sweetness from the Kabinett. Of the three Spätlesen tasted, this was probably the most approachable and open. Despite the full-bodied sweet fruit, this retains a firm acidic core.

Excess : Electric. This is just flat out amazing with an array of ripe peach, tangerine, and mandarin orange fruit at its core, augmented by bright florality and an intense, vivid expression of slate and stone beneath. The acidity here is absolutely insane though but never overwhelming or sharp, and keeps it unbelievably light and vibrant while giving it an incredible sense of freshness. This is a wow wine, and I'm glad I have more.

Undoubtedly drank too early, but I couldn't help my curiosity. This is an excellent, almost effervescent at this stage, glimpse into this wonderful vintage. Racy acidity balances generous white fruit, lemon candy, and lanolin. Very enjoyable and one of our favorites so far, as the wife and I explore 2015 Mosels.

Both joyful and serious; red apple, red apple skin, lime, tart acidity, apricot, and mineral. Still showing very youthful notes (obviously); yummy, but not yet very complex, though that could change with some time as it is still a baby. Quite nice.

Excellent, but a bit boring tonight. Drunk very fast, no time to open up. Didnt sense any oxidative character as Ive sensed in other bottles. Drink now-2020.

Red apple, lime, and honey on the attack. Plenty of sweetness, but even more acidity. Loads of green apple and lime, with some tropical sweetness. Not very complex, but very enjoyable.

Like this a little more than some of the notes here. Nice green apple, peach, and nectarine fruit with mineral notes, nice acidity and long finish.

Nice attack of green and red apple and some tropical notes. The palate has both luscious ripe sweetness and tangy green-apple acidity, but he two fight rather than complement each other (like two heavy weights on a barbell, per one taster - balanced in theory but not in harmony). Finish of green apple, lime pith, pineapple sweetness, and good cut. Not great.

Very good. Still some baby fat, but also a oxidative character sneaking in. Might not be up for the long run.

Light gold in glass. Medium sweet, tropical fruit. Secondary notes of oak barrel or wine cellar on finish. Going through an in between phase? I'll try again in two years.

Bummer - this bottle was a little off nose is restrained and reductive. palate is nice, but a bit simple. With a little air, nose opens up a bit but palate gives hints of oxidation. Some matured sweetness appears as well. The two previous bottles were much better!

This really hit a spot tonight! Winner on all accounts - nose, palate and finish. A really wonderful and complex nose. No reductive notes or anything unpleasant at all. Just pure, delicate pleasure. Sweet and tingling on tongue - a hint of effervescence. Multi-layered. Finish is long and with so much mouthwatering acidity - the acid really counterbalances the sweetness which is what I look to for the perfect sweet riesling.

We drank this after an excellent Rheingau which was both more intensive and concentrated, and sweeter. So this might have blurred our palates but anyway here comes the experience. I continue to be surprised by Gault Millau's decision to make Schloss Lieser winemaker of the year in Germany.
