Double decanted two hours prior to serving, then another 45 minutes slow ox in glass. Very dark, no bricking. Aromas of red fruits and flowers with a hint of oak. Fairly powerful, lot of somewhat opulent cassis and black cherry fruit - almost Left Bank BDX-like. Long finish but had a ton of tannins and some underlying acid. Unbelievably young for a 26-year-old. Fooled all the blind tasters who guessed either Aglianico or Barolo. This either needs another ten years …

PNP. Like it even better now. Strong contender for a good vintage BDX. someone wrote that they cannot find the fruit. Yes it is hiding behind acidity and tannins (after 23 years!), but it is there. Powerful supertuscan in a great place. No hurry still. At plateau.

Don't know where to place this. Strong menthol nose. Very dark. Very fruity to my taste, with still good tannins and acidity. Don't see it as fading - someone noted CF similarity. Yes, that's about right. Good stuff. Have a few more bottles - no hurry.

Colorino? In a blind taste I would have guessed Cab Franc. Given a couple hours the tannin softens so as not to overwhelm and the earthy soul comes alive. Cant find the fruit but I don't care, the finish lasts and lasts......

Super Tuscan Wine Dinner: 1997s and more (Donato Enoteca, Redwood City, California) : Dark red violet color; mature, plum, berry, red currant nose; maturing, tart currant, tart red plum, herbal, oak palate; good now and should go 7-plus years; medium-plus finish

Had another nearly 5 years ago and it was glowing then, is still glowing now and will continue at least 2010. LOVELY!

Damn, what a pleasant surprise! Dark red (even black) in color. Wonderful, strong and sweet aromas of prunes, some licorice, redcurrant and strawberries. Full body, with lively concentrated flavors of wild fruits, prunes, ripe grapes, all combined with lovely tasty oak. Really well balanced, with solid acidity and good healthy tannins. Long, muscular finish, with a heavy aftertaste, leaving you with flavors of ripe grapes and cherries. Overall, a great red wine, that is very tasty and very powerful now. …
