hier 2004 Boroli Barolo si tu aimes le tabac, tu ne sera pas déçu, c'est comme mâcher une chiqu de tabac mais avec un peu de cerise en prime.. c'est pas mauvais, mais pas le meilleur barolo. rqp médiocre

2004 Boroli Barolo Wow, nez superbe sur la cerise, fraise, balsamique et épices, pas trop floral, c'est super intense. On the nose, the kerosine, pine, and cherry pipe tobacco was noticeable, but diminished with time. Upon first opening, it was very astringent, but the tannins diminishes over time, and also with food. After 2-3 hours, tannisn have mellowed, and the taste is exceptionally complex and structured. PnP, consumed over 4+ hours. Liked it better towards the end of the night (but even then not very much) so my guess is this really needs some more time. Overall I was pretty disappointed in this. Didn't really get any floral notes on the nose, just cherry and oak. Taste was sharp cherry, acidic and short. Expected more.

This is a very good Barolo, and I was happy with it. It's not a wine to amaze you or lead you down the path of Nebbiolo Nirvana, but is a good entry level Barolo that represents that variety well. 89-90

No notes taken. Popped and poured. Served beside a '96 Pio Cesare Il Bricco and an '00 Conterno Granbussia and more than held its own. Extremely youthful with some obvious oak so I would hold off on these for 3-5 years and then see where it's at.

DAY 2. very traditionally styled tar, roses, cherry nose. flirts with cleanliness as leathery aromas confused with TCA, but today and yesterday, I don't really think this is corked. at least, not offensively so. the finish has rather nice length. previously having found corked wines to really clip on the finish, i'm finding this pleasurably old world styled wine in fine shape. rather imposingly structured. acid not too high, but tannin is immensely flexed. drink 2013 to 2023.

Nice, bright red. Tight nose but with lots of dried herbs. Threads of fruit woven around the herbs in the nose. Nice tannins dominate in the mouth, but it has only breathed a half hour. These '04's are so good across the board, but need so much time it hurts. Brooding tannins in your face. Some cherries, dried fruit and leather with spice, strawberries, dried herbs. SO dried out with fruit tannins. Hard to get past it, but all things said, rather balanced with great acidity. This one is in for the long haul and hope to try in 10 yrs or so. Or decant it from 20 stories up to see what happens!?!?!

Dalla Terra Tasting (CT) : Very difficult to assess the quality of wines like Barolo at a large tasting as is. But when the pour is a quarter of an ounce so that the wine doesn't even coat the mouth, and the nose is always muted, it's kind of a lost cause. And I usually like Boroli's barolos. That being said. This seemed solid, but not anything to get super excited about. 89?
