WijnSpijs Zevenbergen #2 Very good wine! My first Governo, which is the Tuscan way of appassimento, drying part of the grapes and adding them for the second fermentation, which gives more concentration to the wine. Good balance, good intensity, good length, not very complex. Medium intense aromas of cherry, raspberry, leather, wet leaves, tobacco. Dry wine, medium+ acidity, medium and supple tannins, medium body, medium+ intense flavours. Medium+ length finish. 13% - served @ De Borgh

Tasted at the Stephane Auriol tasting in Hampshire, UK. 80% sangiovese, this is made by the Governo method, whereby (as I understand it in simplistic terms, I expect there's a winemaker out there who can explain better than me) 70% of the grapes are fermented normally, the rest are held back, allowed to partially dry out and then added as necessary to enhance the maturation process. I thought this wine was excellent, well priced, so I bought a few bottles. …

Clear light ruby colour with an orange hue. On the nose red fruits with cherries, plum and some balsamic notes. On the palate medium bodied with pleasant (medium) acidity. Well balanced and tannins soft and hardly recognisable. I score this 2016 even higher a point than the 2015.
