Solid with a steak. Perhaps a bit past peak, but still enjoyable. Drink now if you still have one

Bold touriga nacional based wine, deep red colour, initially nose with oak aromas, leather, a bit of smoke. Then come the black fruits. Liked it, and also very good price.

RQP ****

Quite tough and tannic at first. Better after decanting and it softened further in the glass. Deep colour with purple rim. Black and red berry fruit with red fruit acidity and some chocolate on the late palate. Long with complex tannins and good length. It showed more of its character as it opened - it softened and sweetened and became richer. A good life ahead, still. Always a food wine, it went well with barbecued steak and sausages.

Seen good reviews from wine critics I respect but written two years ago thus perhaps why I don't agree as two years regretfully do not stand the time on this wine. That is my comment less than 60 minutes in decanting. Still after 2 hours toasted fruit comes through and I change my rating. Yes it has taste.

Bon, mais moins aimé que le Ventozelo. Fruits rouges, belle tension acide, tanins biens fondus. Rien de très démarquant VS autre vin rouge du "Sud". Pas une très grande personnalité, un peu générique. À boire sans attendre 2015/2016 RQP ***

Young wine, some artificial notes on opening, air helps soften the harsh edges. Fruity but with solid background, medium bodied, not bad after all. Will prefer to wait for an year before next try. I see it as a perfect outdoor bbq afternoon wine.

Deep ruby red colour with purple in the edges. Blackberries, red plums and sweet cherries on the nose. Taste of blackberries, sweet cherries and red plums. Hints of liquorice. Good acidity and firm tannins. Goes well with grilled red meat and roasted duck.

Aromas of raspberry, spice and flowers. Simple flavors of spice, blackberry, and earth. Decent finish but lacks complexity from the other 2011 Douro's I have had. Improved after about 2.5 hours.

A decent enough drop of wine, but without much of a distinctive personality.

Clear, deep purple color with staining legs. Clean, medium intensity aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant, blueberry, plum, dark chocolate, roses, and lavender along with some rosemary and a spicy pepperiness. It is a youthful wine. The wine is dry with medium plus acidity, medium plus to high tannin, medium to medium plus alcohol and body. The palate confirms the nose, but the fruit is a little brighter. The wine can be drunk now, but a few years ageing would mellow out …

Undrinkable in the first hour after opening the bottle. Smell and taste of rock and dust. Got much better after 1-2 hours with plum and vanilla notes. However, massive tannins overlay all the other delicate aromas. I would wait at least 2 more years before opening another bottle...

Baked plum, some black cherry, meat juices. Initial burst of mouth-watering acidity. Quite fine-grained tannins, and some port-like notes. A bit more uneven on the second day. Not sure it quite merits the 92pts Jamie Goode gave it, but good value & I was pleasantly surprised.
