Balthasar Ress, Hattenheimer Schutzenhaus Riesling Kabinett, Rheingau

Light yellow in colour, with a lovely nose of white flowers, talc, nectarines and pears. Medium bodied, and more of a trocken or haltrocken style. For a 2009, it is quite racy, with wonderfully juicy acidity dding to the minerals, nectarines, pineapple, mango, lime and lemon flavours. Not at all like a 'normal' 2009 kabinett - that is, it is drier and with much more acidity than I expected: a nice surprise (B+)!

pale yellow colour with mild viscosity. tad of petrol on the nose that gave way to floral and fruit (tropical and citrus) aromas. delightful in the palate, with a strong citrusy acidic backbone to balance the tropical elements. a moderate unctuousness reveals some sweetness (seems barely off-dry) that becomes minty on the moderate finish. almost as good a pairing as one could hope for in flight. Wine is a nice light-medium yellow. Nose is a fruity, slightly spicy and very light kerosene smell. The wine is a crisp , medium tropical fruit with some sharpnees and tang in the middle. The finish had a very light caramel note and a nice lightly tart residual f the fruit. Still a bit acid up front for my liking but much more like the traditional German Riesing of the past. Solid kabinett. Didn't take notes, but it was a light to medium bodied wine and was crisp and clean, with simple but tasty fruit flavours (apple, citrus, pear) (B+).

The wine was pale straw in colour. It was tropical and mineral on the nose, with lemon, grapefruit, peach, pineapple, minerals, wet stones and a hint of honey. On the palate the wine was fresh, with crisp lemon and grapefruit, peach, some pineapple, wet stones, good acidity and just the right level of residual sugar. The wine had medium-length. The phenomenal balance of sugar and acidity paired with the delicious fruit flavours and the mineral touch made the wine simply …
