Esk Valley, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough

Part of an experiment drinking it a decade after vintage released. Grass, leaves, oak, tannins carry flavor but finishes sour since past its prime. No tartness nor brightness anymore; round texture. Probably at its peak in 2012 but will research because the tasting notes I have reviewed are from 2010 and no later. The fruitiness mentioned in 2010 has evolved into oakiness. Very unusual Sav Blanc. Drinks more like a light, non-ML non-barrel aged Chard. Tropical notes, hint of smoke. Sancere on steriods.

SB nose of elder flower, green grass, but also plenty of fruit, passion fruit, apples and some lime. High acidity, light dryness and generous fruit. Refreshing and a well made wine.

Nice but typical NZ Sauvignon Blanc. Tropical fruits on the nose and a lemony, slightly herby finish.

Lots of green plants and perhaps unripened melon on the nose. Tart flavor, notes of green apple and citrus. Crisp finish that lingers. Pleasant sweetness on the aftertaste.

light and crisp, good grass and fruit. not memorable, so find better values in mid-teens $$

very tart and light

Classic aromas of green pepper, tropical fruit, grassy herbaceousness. More of the same on the palate. Good length, full flavoured but a bit too bitter in the mouth.
