After some serious time it has opened gloriously! Loads of earth and mushroom complementing some dark red fruit and floral notes on the nose. Palate is chock full of dark muscular fruit, a dense and velvety middle, long and persistent and perfectly balanced through the finish. Wonderful wine from a magnum purchased in Paris in 2021. What a journey this one took! Opened early afternoon and poured a tiny bit out. Showed signs of being over the hill and drying …

From Magnum. Seemed a little tired on opening but perked right up. Cherry, sous bois(?), Little bit of spice. Drinking in a great spot if just past the midpoint of it's window. Loved it.

This had some VA that just got more pronounced over time. Kept overnight and ended up dumping it.

Robust deep cherry fruit with sap, earth, and plenty of structure. Nice, but not a great value.

Opened the first of these from a case about 2 years ago, and my note said to wait 3 years before opening another. Well, I waited 2 and found the wine has made very positive steps forward. A bit of toastiness on the nose dissipated quickly, leaving candied red fruit and some emerging secondary notes of sous bois. The palate started out with a touch of green, but nothing unpleasant, and a medium bodied fruitiness that I found quite enjoyable. …

Still very young, but with some air and a proper Burgundy stem this showed a lot of beautiful Volnay character. Raspberry, soil, mineral, game, a floral note poking out here and there. Delicious and lithe. Nicely balanced so it will last and last. This should reach full maturity in a couple of years, though it's open enough to drink now.

Opened and slow ox'ed for 3.5h in wine fridge. Initially very shy aromas w tart red fruits, some spices and herbs. After another 1.5h, a bit more open. A- just ripe red cherries, a hint of baking spices, cinnamon, bark and earth. P-Red cherries, strawberries, some herbs. Creamy mouthfeel. Somewhat hollow in the midpalate. Moderate tannins on the back end. Moderate finish. Wonder if this is beginning to shut down. 90 for now. Will check in tomorrow or d3.
